I'm really into the atmospheric bm, such as Saor, Agalloch, Elderwind, Summoning, Caladan Brood, Fen, Vindland, Paysage d'Hiver. It is less of an evil feel overall and more of a unforgiving landscape feel though it is clearly the offspring of earlier waves of bm.
Hi Ironclaw This I found the other day but only put it aside to check out properly later. It's certainly on the softer, spacey side of things.
Two that are of the atmospheric that I held onto are these. The first is some weirdo space voyage and the second is downright romantic in a New Wave way. Each are of 2017.
So much risk! Who are you, the Evel Knievel of Metal!!! And Fearless Fuzz goes down! That Decibel list is missing one champ of an album. I'll be the next I listen to again as it's easily in the top ten of 2017...for me.
Indeed, definitely will be in the top 5 of Lenny's spectacular super terrific end o' the year mega metal countdown. And don't forget tomorrow is Black Metal Friday!
Black Friday: one of my 2017 keepers. Selbst, by SELBST Though it doesn't sound very Black off the get-go.
Sill indulging in Beneath but digging deeper, beyond the more accessible. This relatively tranquil track for example from their debut. Also, always interested in lists I've been going through "GoreGirl's Dungeon" horror movie lists looking for gems I've not seen. From her GOREGIRL’S FAVOURITE HORROR FILMS 1960-69 I'll hunt down these 1963 and 1966 films from Mario Bava.
Never watched that much Bava, only seen 3 of his I think. I think it was Twitch of the Death Nerve that had to be an influence on the Friday the 13th films. Watched Tenebrae over the weekend, blu looked glorious.
I haven't seen Twitch. Surely you've seen Black Sunday. If by chance you haven't do no watch this video as it's packed with spoilers. These guys do a pretty good job of syncing the visuals with their music. I had a devil of a time finding that as I suck at remembering names and don't have their music (I dislike the retro stoner thing that's so popular lately). I watched Kill, Baby... Kill! (1966) Operazione paura (original title) last night and it's certainly packed with cobwebs and fog and a creepy girl looking at you through a window but it's too long. It would be perfect at half the length, 40 minutes, and part of a trilogy like Tales from the Crypt (1972).
Going where this man has not gone before, into the pit with Cannibal Corpse. I don't own anything by them and I guess it's time to have them beat the crap outta me. Hey, just found out they're from Buffalo, New York. We're neighbours! Father Lenny, Fearless Fuzz or others, if you bought Red Before Black did you buy the deluxe? The bonus CD seems great so far. I couldn't resist listening to it first. 1. Sacrifice (Sacrifice cover) 2. Confessions (Possessed cover) 3. No Remorse (Metallica cover) 4. Demon's Night (Accept cover) 5. Bethany Home (A Place to Die) (The Accused cover) 6. Endless Pain (Kreator cover) 7. Behind Bars (Razor cover)
Sorry, Death Metal typically isn't my bag, especially the likes of Cannibal Corpse. Maybe someday it will click with me, but for now, no.
Yeah, now that I'm nearly done CD 1 the jackhammer of Brutal Death isn't working for me either. The bonus CD I like though.
No, mine didn't come with the bonus disc. You should look up their cover of Sabbath's Zero the Hero, if you get the chance. Krohm anyone?
I like that Krohm! I actually was listening to Born Again earlier today, checking out a vinyl rip. The CC cover did put a stupid smirk on my face. It reminds me of the Beastie Boys' cover of Elton's Bennie and the Jets, which I like. Now if Cannibal Corpse were to cover a Beatles song I'd bring a broom to sweep up all the pulled out hair.
Went to Cannibal Corpse/Power Trip/Gatecreeper Sunday night. I thought Gatecreeper was great. Really went to see Power Trip (again). They didn't disappoint. Not a huge Cannibal Corpse fan but thought their set was great.
Fell in love with a song last night. It may begin as madness but gathers form half way through and becomes majestic.
