I can't find the article but Mackenzie had said no new series (3), unless he thought he had more worthy material, I think he mentioned Fawlty Towers only consisting of 12 episodes, as in stop when you should.

Well perfection, so that probably means no series 4:cry:

Great show and quite happy if they call it quits. Sometimes that's a good thing.

Always chuckle to myself thinking of the Jim'll Fix it Badge.

A cracking little show which I’ll really miss. I’m surprised the BBC made it to be honest given that it’s predominately about a pair of peculiar middle aged men well up the autistic spectrum and their quirky little hobby.

I normally watch each episode a couple of time because there’s a lot of subtle background comedy going on that if you blink you miss.

I don’t know how well the comedy travels; it’s has a peculiarly British sense of humour in my opinion.

Favourite show this year (or the last few years) funniest bit of the finale episode was Lance shooing away the other detectorists like horses..

    Such a good show

  6. Just finished watching season 2 on Netflix in the UK. This is a great show - so well written and acted. Makes a change to watch something that contains no nastiness - no drugs or guns or misery. Hope they put out the theme music on disc sometime.

Agreement with all the positive comments here, and I will add that for me the casting is second to none. I could watch Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook in those roles all day. An outstandingly good series.

This is such a good show. Very deftly done by Mckenzie Crook. The only thing that does annoy me is the lack of rain! How on earth did they manage to find so many clear days to film three seasons?

I can’t believe they aren’t doing another season, but it was all wrapped up so nicely that you can see that it must be the case

It get better and better by viewing 3 and beyond, so many little things going on and all of it so subtle, Sophie Thompson (Sheila) deserves and Oscar for her facial expressions alone.

sheer joy but probably right to call time on it, there were times in season three that it may have ran its course although i still enjoyed every minute.

Loved it. Laughed out loud when “Simon and Garfunkel” gave their real names of Peters and Lee to the police - Peters and Lee were a U.K. MOR music duo from the 70s.

Everything about the series was perfect. For me the only comedy that came close this year was Car Share - the safari park episode in particular.

Part of me would like another series, but I agree it’s best to finish on a high.

Picked up the complete DVD box set (shame there is no BD, given the lovely photography) as a Xmas present for my girlfriend. About to pop in disc one and start again from the beginning.

I watched season 3 on youtube, a little below the level of the first 2.
One of my favorite shows of all time.

I loved everything about the series. Actors, script, pace, humour. Everything’s 99% of modern comedy fails to attain sadly.

Would of loved to have seen a cameo from Bill Wyman though.....you can’t have everything I suppose.
