Side B sounds more quietly and at total absence of space - use of an equalizer doesn't help. It is very notable in comparison with sounding of other sides. My feeling - a sound is distributed from under a thick blanket.
The finale of Dogs on Animals sounds a bit "messy" to me on the vinyl, I have an original and a reissue and they both suffer from this. I notice there is more dead wax on the reissue, probably to minimise IGD but it still doesn't sound great.
So, next we'll have PFRLP15, PFRLP17 and PFRLP18. I guess there's no doubt about Relics and PULSE, but what about the other? What should it be?
PFRLP1-PFRLP14 (Studio Records from The Piper at the Gates of Dawn to The Division Bell) PFRLP15 - The Endless River ??? PFRLP16 - Delicate Sound of Thunder PFRLP17 - P.U.L.S.E. PFRLP18 - Relics PFRLP19 - A Collection of Great Dance Songs PFRLP20 - Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd PFRLP21 - A Foot in the Door PFRLP22 - Is There Anybody Out There? (The Wall Live 1980-1981) ??? I Truly hope that they will release PULSE and Is There Anybody Out There? (The Wall Live 1980-1981) in LP Record format next year!!!
Curious if you have tried listening to the original 'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' LP with the speaker leads reversed? I found the early issue USA CD sounded more open and holographic with my dac's invert polarity switch engaged. I recall it was pretty easily heard... like the ambience in David Gilmour's voice at the start of "On The Turning Away"
Hope they can put all the singles on a double or triple decker called Relics and Singles. Most likey this would be too good to happen.
I also hope the 1965 recordings would get a proper release on vinyl, maybe 12''. The original double 7'' is so rare and expensive now.
Tack it onto the end of Great Dance Songs and delete Another Brick II. For whatever reason, I just could not get into the track sequencing of Works. I like the tracks - but they just sound dull in that order - or is it the mastering?
Ha! No, it's really just not a great compilation. It's like the polar opposite of the sequencing on Great Dance Songs, which flows brilliantly. And although I asked about "Embryo" up there, it's not a great track either.
The live versions of that track are amazing! Such a shame it was never completed at studio sessions. Though they recycled the strange guitar noises later, for 'Echoes'.
Wondering if I can get some help from any members here, 553 post lines on this thread are a little much to go through for this question... My local FYE has a clearance sale going on now with vinyl (got some killer bargains already) and they have Umamagumma (new 2016 copy) for only $15.80 and More for $12...all I have are the original Japanese mini sleeve CDs, which sound fantastic by the way, but wondering if I should jump on either one of these, especially UG... My concern is that they had and go press EU and US versions of these and of course the versions I would be buying would be the US ones...have them on hold, just wondering if someone could give me feedback on the sound quality, already saw the copies I would buy and the packaging is no doubt nice. Many thanks in advance!
I am not sure if this is covered previously. But I have just opened by DSOT from Xmas. About 2 thirds of the way through SOYCD a visible heavy click kicks in for about 90 seconds. On probably the one track you wouldn't want it on!! Really annoying because even on my modest set up this vinyl sounds amazing!! Fortunately I have a really good Record shop who will exchange.
