It would be nice if they brought the boards back!

I hardly ever even go on imdb since they got rid of the boards. I liked reading others thoughts on movies and other general tidbits of info. I just ignored the trolls. IMO, there was a lot more good than bad on there for the most part. Sucks they got rid of them.

Since Amazon ownes IMDb, i just read amazon consumer reviews now. Don't value paid gung ho over the top rave reviews, so obvious. Usually prefer constructive complaint reviews more.
Still no substitute for the original IMDb message board template.

    Never bothered with it.
Guess reading consumer reviews will have to suffice.

It would be interesting to find out if the axing of the message boards has affected IMDb's daily traffic in a big way. It seems as though a lot of people, myself included, only went on there to check out the message boards. I can get news, location info, box office data, actor filmographies from elsewhere.

Why is it still there sans message board then?

the kids do love their superhero trailers! :magoo:

  10. I believe Amazon owns IMDB. They bought it as they started becoming a video provider. Hollywood likely pressured them to get rid of the user boards when negotiating deals with Amazon.

Just found a bunch of good info on IMDB on the Hitchcock pick Marnie today, which I saw through to the conclusion for the first time. Much better than I thought it would be. A sort of Hitchcock visits Peyton Place!

TCM had a Hitchcock marathon today. You don't often see The Trouble with Harry!

For the same reason that Pitchfork doesn't have a comments section, no doubt. It's like when Bart wore a t-shirt to school saying "Down with homework" and it started a riot.

    Opinions ?
Only on modern CGI movies, old Hollywood ( at least six decades ) was spared. I went there for information ( didn't seek it out)and it was there in a abundance. Still no substitute existing for me at least.

No it wasn't the CGI itself. It was just some idiots arguing over nothing in particular. Again just movies in the last 10 years.
