I would rate Win, Lose or Draw as a good album but certainly not one of the better ABB albums IMO.

Can't Lose What You Never Had is in the tradition of great arrangements by the ABB.

Altough it's not on par with ABB's classic early albums, i still like it a lot. In my opinion it was their best studio album until Hittin' the Note.

There's some really strong material on those 90's studio albums. However, I didn't like the way they were produced. In my opinion they were far better live, especially on "Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theatre 1992".

I agree. 1992 Beacon disc is really good. I became a fan when a friend played me their first album when it was released. I really like the last lineup in the band. It's hard to believe that they did just on studio album. I have the 2009 Beacon box and all the concerts that they played in 2014 in another box set. I'm glad that there is plenty of live material from this last incarnation of the group.

I also have the Beacon 2009 box set! It wasn't cheap in the first plave, and i remember i had pay a huge clearance charge for the Finnish customs, but it was very well worth it. Actually, i gave up smoking in order to buy the box. Just the medley of In a Silent Way/Liz Reed/JaMaBubu is just incredible. They were one of the best bands on Earth.

  10. Simply phenomenal.

Mediocre. Far below what they were capable of just 2 years earlier.

It’s an OK album, and while it’s certainly a letdown after the greatness of Brothers and Sisters, it somehow hold together. Admittedly, you can hear the band going through the motions after the first song, but at least it’s an honest album.

Yep, and they’ve only themselves to blame. I still enjoy it, though.

The Epic studio albums from 90-94 were rock solid.

Can't Lose What You Never Had and High Falls are the best tracks. The rest are pretty average.

I believe the reluctance of the "senior members" of the band to rehearse new material & /or go into the studio to record were major frustrations that lead Warren & Derek's decision to leave the band.
IMO all of the studio albums from & including Seven Turns onwards are better than the albums from Win Lose & Draw up to Brothers Of The Road

I’d have to agree, though I have a soft spot for Enlightened Rogues

Laid Back would have been improved had Gregg included Nevertheless & Win, Lose or Draw just as Sweet Mama & Just Another Love Song would have improved Highway Call.
High Falls needed to be trimmed back from 14 minutes to 7 minutes long.

Laid Back was, and is a masterpiece, exactly as is.

Laid Back is too low key for me. I prefer Playin' Up A Storm.

Can you imagine a 5.1 for that album?

No. After 45 years, stereo is exactly how it should be for me. Specifically, the latest Ryan Smith remaster.

    Horses for courses, then.

I was pleasantly surprised by the 5.1 mix for Idlewild South on the Super Deluxe Edition. The stereo mix of Laid Back is ear candy and very well engineered, but I'd welcome a 5/1 mix, to hear some of those buried elements on the album. With 24 tracks, I'm sure there are elements that got left out of the mix final mixes. :)

No, High Fall should have been extended to 21 minutes! At least!
