Really? You believe the Guess Who and Styx will be better remembered than the Beatles and Dylan?

Once again: the vast majority of "deserving" artists are in there. This notion that the roster of non-inductees is better than the actual inductees makes zero sense...

Yes. A long list of big hits, even if I don't like all of them. Actually I can't really say I love any of them, but they were big hits so that seals the deal.

I suspect Canadians will view the list of GW hits as longer than those of us in the States.

Looking at the charts, GW had a brief run of popularity in the US: 1969-71. They scored on more hit in 1974 but didn't do a whole lot after that short period of success.

They didn't seem to have great success as an album band in the US. They scored 9 t0p 20 singles in the US but only 2 top 20 albums...

Okay, if we count greatest hits, they had three US top 20 albums - "Best of" got to #12 in 1971!

I had only looked at their original studio albums.

"Best of V2" came out in 1973 - and peaked at #186!

    A 1977 "Greatest" collection topped at #173.

Chart peaks aren't always a great way to measure sales of hits collections, though. Eagles' "GH V2" peaked at #52 - and has sold more than 11 million copies in the US!

Looks like GW's "Best of" was certified Gold but not Platinum. May well have sold more than 1 million but never certified - unfortunately, the albums' Wiki listing doesn't mention anything about overall sales...

According to Wiki, "American Woman" and "No Sugar Tonight" both hit #19 in the UK. Since these were apparently both on the same single - "AW" as the "A" and "NST" as the "B" - it's unclear if they actually charted separately or if they were both viewed as #19 hits on their own.

If Wiki is correct, GW made no other real dent in the UK...

Popular AM hits up thru 1975, the last four being Star Baby, Clap For The Wolfman, Dancin' Fool, and Shakin' All Over. Continuous FM rotation all through the 70's. That first Greatest Hits album with the poster probably outstripped the individual albums as far as sales. Ubiquitous.

They became a staple of classic rock radio in the 80's and 90's. The station I listened to played them often.
