That would be neat! 20 Years of Jethro Tull was a blast in its day! Simultaneous release in LP, cassette and CD formats... Everybody to be happy! With the identical box presentation, they made sure the commercial impact (visibility of product in shops - those were the days!) was bigger...
As a listener of recordings he’s played on, he sounds quite good. Judging by his ability on other instruments, I’m sure he’d be fine in a live setting but I’m not sure how well he’d be able to improvise as many good bass players do. (I’m a bass player myself). It’s hard to rate a bass player unless you’ve seen them live or played with them in many cases. The SOUND he gets on Stormwatch is very good. It has incredible punch. An interesting aside: Yesterday I played drums at the church service which I do occasionally. My wife said to me “maybe drums are your forte”. Now I can play drums but I don’t consider myself a drummer. I just thought it was amusing that the average person can’t really hear what the bass guitar can actually do but they notice it on the drums. Few people hear the dynamics that one can bring to the bass but on Drums it’s obvious.

I played Homo Erraticus just last evening. No. Just no. It's wrong is just about every way, from the text in the packaging, to the production - awful guitar sound - and the thin voice that isn't sufficiently fixed even in the studio, it seems. Love Tull, but given he's needed help singing the entire set in the last couple tours, new dates is of no interest I'm afraid. Honestly, the next Tull release might well be the first I've simply ignored. Some archival box sets would be nice though.
Unfortunately, Andrew Giddings did not leave Tull on good terms (basically told through an intermediary that his services were no longer required or something along those lines if memory serves). That collaboration was magic and it's a pity it came to an end. Then again, we could say the same about Ian and Martin.
The album was released very late in 1979.They have tended to put these out within a month or two of the original release month.

Curious to hear this new album. Hope springs eternal and all that, but I keep hoping for another Secret Language of Birds at some point...
As a Scot, I'm actually now more curious about trying Monkey Shoulder......how did I miss that one???
I don't need any of that. I can live with his voice so long as he's couching it in a more laid back musical setting. More than anything else, I miss the tunefulness of Secret Language and haven't heard a lot of it on the last few offerings. That album had some stunning arrangements.
If a live chronological set is being prepared, the Aqualung, TAAB and APP tours need to be covered. As well as Stromwatch. And a complete Warchild while their are at it too. There is the Landover 76 show in private hands. 1970 is very good represented (Carnegie Hall, IOW, but I would welcome Tanglewood). 1977 is now well represented (London Hippodrome, Landover 77) 1978 is also very good covered (Bursting Out and now Berne) The Philadelphia 87 gig has a very good set list and the band has it.
It’d be nice to have it remixed. That album really is reverb and ping-pong echo drenched. Didn’t Ian re-record most of his vocals for that album?
It is also time for a "making of" Aqualung documentary. Long overdue. JT have released material through Eagle, so no contractual issues there I presume.
