You could go back in time to see one Beatles' concert. Which of these would it be?

Roof Top. A great set, they look great and appear to be having fun. Wonderful stuff. At the cinema showing of the recent Eight Days a Week film they showed a couple of rooftop performances. The footage was fantastic. Who knows maybe we will get it one day.

I'd like to have seen them in the Cavern, Washington will always be special because it was first ... but as far as America, it would be the Atlanta concert in 1965 when they had the good sound system and could hear themselves play, and IMO they were never better on a U.S. stage than they were that night.

Can I pick Las Vegas 1964? I was a newborn and my mom wouldn't take me. :D

Hard choice, but I'd go with the Cavern.

    Cavern set with Ringo.
2nd choice would be Roof Concert

If the Royal Variety show was la full set than that would be a good choice also.

According to those in attendance, there was less screaming than at their 1964 Olympia appearance. Bob Seger was there and has said the sound was decent.

The Drop-In performance on Swedish TV in October 1963. Best full Beatles performance captured on film or video, IMHO.

Or the 1962 show with Little Richard. It was probably better than their last show in Cavern. And you had a chance to see both their drummers in one concert.

I never understand people who answer Sullivan, Shea or the rooftop for this one. They were filmed in their entireties
people! You can watch them anytime, and have a better visual and audio experience than most who were actually there had. What a waste of a golden ticket!

I'd want to see the same show I saw on August 12th, 1966.
It one of life's highlights so I would like to experience the concert again and try to burn more of it into my brain.

And yes, I could hear them just fine.
    We had good seats .

Of the concerts listed in Steve's opening post, I'd go with the rooftop concert.
I'd be assured of being up super close, unlike all the other choices except the Cavern.

  18. Actually, I'd take the radio gig played earlier on October 24th over the "Drop In" TV gig played on the 30th as my all-time #1 choice. The group playing a tight six-song set (with the somewhat rarely preserved "Money" and "You've Really Got a Hold On Me" included) like their lives depended on it with about the best live sound they've ever gotten - in front of a respectful, attentive audience. Doesn't get better than that.

Next would be a Star Club Hamburg gig on a good night - post-Ringo entry into the band. Then finally Hollywood Bowl '64 for a tight, energetic show in a great venue for the full Beatlemania experience. Rooftop '69 would be nice except there was too much dead space in the actual performance, several songs repeated, and would have been cold as hell up there...
