Brother Ray's version of this classic outshines all others. This one never wore out it's welcome at casa de McLover. And for that matter, a classic.

"Songbird" on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album. I've never liked that song. Not even a little.

I wish that they had put "Inside & Out" on W&W, relegating "YOSW" to the Spot the Pigeon EP.

"Across The Universe" ruins an otherwise perfect Young Americans album from David Bowie.

I'm three songs into Gretchen Goes to Nebraska (1993) by King's X and I was not a fan of the second song at all, "Over My Head". The first and third songs were great, though. I'll hear the rest tomorrow...

"Don't Sit Down on the Plexiglas Toilet" by Styx, a novelty song that should have been a B-side.

As unpopular as this may be, Dear God by XTC. It is a personal thing but what is most frustrating is they are an amazing band and even the music of that song is brilliant.
If it was an instrumental, I would have no issue.

The rest of Skylarking is wonderful.

Again, I'm sure most would disagree and that is okay.

Well, the UK tracklist omits Dear God so you don't have to skip that song if you have that version.

Till There Was You by the Beatles, whether it's With The Beatles or Meet The Beatles, it's a song I have to skip. Horrible.

I will have to hunt that version down. How's the sound quality on the UK CD?

I must be missing something because I love both of those songs. For me, Dirty Little Girl is the song that “ruins” Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and no song ruins “Out Of The Blue” because that album is perfect from beginning to end.

A quick search suggests zero, but I've only been around this forum for a year. This particular topic is an interesting one to me, because one awful song truly has ruined a few albums for me. Curiously, in certain cases, I have learned to love those songs, like "I Think I'm Going Bald" and "Benny the Bouncer". But others, like "Whodunnit" and The Police's "Mother" drive me insane are are surely contenders for the "What were they thinking?" prize. Making an album is a big deal for most artists, and a big deal for the record company and everyone else who has a stake in it, so when they have that meeting where everyone asks, "Okay, which songs make the cut, and which do not?", and songs like "(Don't Sit on) the Plexiglas Toilet" make it--and the record company green-lights it--you gotta wonder how that happened. Some of these songs actually have stories behind them that explain their presence; I've read a little bit about "Mother" and "Are You Ready, Eddy?" that make me think, "Okay, I can understand that". Good thread.
