Thought it was Ram that you (hippy dude) loved? ;)

Seriously though, read that somewhere years ago during one of Paul's many interviews.

    That was, indeed, my reference.

And given the number of years it's been, it's quite possible I mentally swapped WildLife for Ram, but I could've sworn it was WL...

Could be me that's wrong considering not all obscure interview quotes are on the internet.

I may have a good memory but it does have a 3-day delay. ;)

I think that Paul has told 2 variations of the same basic story. In one version, some hippie dude in a van was next to Paul at a traffic light. And the dude told him that he was going up into the hills to listen to Wild Life or Ram (I'm not sure which one). And then there is the second version, in which some skier tells Paul he loves Ram or Wild Life as he passes by on the snow.

I doubt it. It's a "real album" - and as noted, the first from Wings.

"McCartney II" isn't exactly "Abbey Road" in terms of production/performance and it got the deluxe treatment. Heck, "McCartney" is pretty messy/sloppy, IMO, as well!

Well, Paul did use a unique method to record some of the drums for the McCartney II album:

Thanks! Here's another story from a 2012 interview.

"Well, years after I made it, one of my New York nephews, who was in his early 20s, said, "Ram's my favorite album. I just love it, man. We play it in college and all that." It totally took me by surprise. And that awoke my interest in the album. Then I started to hear the same thing from a number of people through the years. I think it's because they connect with the liberty to engage, that early-20s kind of thing. It feels like you suddenly have a little bit of chance; you're out of school, not yet in the big serious job. It's a good period to cast around. Some people take a trip to India, Tibet, hitchhike through Europe. This was my trip to Tibet, only it was Scotland. The album is certainly in tune with the freedom that a lot of people want these days in our strange world where bankers can rip the economy apart. It's nice to have a little bit of art to fall back on."

Yeah, I think my vague recollection was the second one, although I think I also heard the first one later as an echo of that skier. Musta mashed them together in my head, I guess..

Anyway, I was pretty sure the LP in question was WL because he was basically trying to defend it's existence/content, whereas Ram at least had a pretty major hit single so it didn't need defending beyond that.

I bet this is for the opening drums on "Temporary Secretary." Does anyone else agree?

TS seems to also have a bass drum sound not depicted in the photo?

I'm beginning to feel a little flushed.

Was this recorded wet or dry?

Could have been recorded separately. The snare sounds overdubbed.

The drum seems to be a tom, not a snare.

There are so few people who are experienced recording engineers AND fully qualified plumbers. Paul is neither. I bet that snare sounded like s***. :D

Your memory is sound. I recall the Wild Life interview reference and have no doubt it was that album. Possibly from something like an old Q or Mojo interview...

    Isn't Giles Martin a plumber?

Not sure if he is a fully qualified one though ... ;)

Wasn't that when he was recording the sequel to Revolution 9?

Looks like a tom, maybe the tape was sped up for recording and later slowed down for getting a larger reverb sound from the toilet underneath.
