OK, Bojack. Here ya go, third paragraph of this: Van Halen Diver Down Song by Song Thread

"The music, BTW, the music, it's all connected, can you see it, it's all connected..." [WTF says as he floats off into the vast void of space.]

My likes are all a product of Hoffman like payola. It's a massive scandal that's about to break. I'm lawyering up!

edit: I think I only got through the first two seasons of Bojack Horseman. I should continue on.

This album is good. It's not like they released a suck album before Knopfler walked away.

First half of the first season wasn't really that good, I thought. But the whole point of that was only to let us get to know the characters and such. It only gets better and indeed worse for every season. The last one is just horrible and also very good.

Been listening to Warren Zevon s/t.
Not a weak track on the album. He will never get the full recognition he deserves and sadly will be remembered as that werewolf song guy.

    2. "Mama Couldn't Be Persuaded" 2:53
    3. "Backs Turned Looking Down the Path" 2:27
    4. "Hasten Down the Wind" 2:58
    5. "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" 3:04
    6. "The French Inhaler" 3:44
    7. "Mohammed's Radio" 3:40
    8. "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" 2:56

One of the best albums ever by anyone. And I rate the werewolf-album even higher.

That's a fair fight. I think I lean towards WZ, mainly because of Carmelita.
Also, is there a greater, weirder, more appropriate last line to a song than the end of Desperados Under the Eaves?

I was sitting in the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel
I was listening to the air conditioner hum.
    It went hmm.................................

There's a scene in the movie Stripes at the beginning when Bill Murray's girlfriend leaves him. One of her many complaints is that he sleeps all day and then sits up all night listening to Tito Puente records. He tells her that one day Tito Puente is going to be dead and that she will be able to say that she has been listening to him for years and that he is fabulous. When I found out that Warren was dying, I thought of that scene and I substituted Warren Zevon for Tito.
We should all make the effort to introduce our friends to Warren. Even when they choose to leave us, we will have given them a lifelong gift.

Yup, that is a point I can agree wholeheartedly on. Luckily I've managed to open quite few ears to these two albums and others but it doesn't seem enough.

"Desperados" is by far my favorite on the album and that is not to destract anything from "Carmelita" or "Poor Poor Pitiful Me". It is just both so extremely poetic and still so very brutal. And that 'humming' part also gives it a lot of humour to balance the creeeping onslaught of dread, sleaze and utter despair.

Five years later. And Keith is ten years older... love this sloppy version!

At least. Man, I love that song so much. Pretty close to being my favorite Stones song. Written in less time than it took to record it and all the better for it. Saw Steve Earle do a great version of it as well once. He almost filled the old man's shoes.
