Totally agree. I'd also like to see sleeve notes written by the bloke who went to see the New Yardbirds at Newcastle mayfair in 1968. And demanded his money back from the box office since it wasn't the Yardbirds and some blond bloke with a funny accent was onstage :D

Voted for Japan, but I couldn't possibly be disappointed with anything from '68, as long as there are some real surprises in store. I've had Olympic Gold forever. Would be nice to see it expanded.

But....does this mean we get LZ I again too? That would be pointless.

    Heard it as well!!
Also played Zombie by the Cranberries so I say Delores helped the Pats win due to large Irish population in New England area!

Anyway I vote Japan '71 show or shows....PLEASE!!!!

I would be very surprised if it.is.any studio material from the first.album. JP would have released those with the remaster.

I personally don't think that 1968 material will be THE big thing that is the main focus of Jimmy's hint - mostly because I feel that between the radio broadcast from the LZ1 companion disk and the 1970 RAH show on the DVD, we have more early Zep represented than we do the Zep from 1975 onwards. And from a big selling point too, I think the general music buying audience would be most interested in '71 onwards because that is when the giants like Stairway came into play.

I thought that as well, but perhaps Jimmy was saving it for another release?

As much as I would prefer Knebworth, I am inclined to agree with you here. Earls Court probably is the most marketable, even to fair weather fans.
What tangled webs these rockers weave when it comes to protecting their interests...
Wasn't that "Baby Please Come Home" song released on Box Set 2 the only outtake from the debut album sessions? Or so Page claimed at the time.

It's going to be a standalone 1968 release with studio material from the first album sessions including some of that Olympic Gold stuff for the copyright extension. It might include some live stuff from 1968 as well, but that material may come out later. That's all I know. No Earls Court. No Japan. No HTWWW remaster.

If this is true honestly I dont expect it to sell that well compared to stuff like Earls Court and whatnot. Very underwhelming

I’m pretty sure you are incorrect on one of those last facts. It is definitely one of those things. Official announcement any moment now

I think the complete opposite. Boring, burnt out Earls Court is what would be underwhelming. I find the possibility of getting 1968 live material on it's own or combined with unheard first album outtakes to be thrilling!

It's not about outselling Earls Court (which is no big deal to me personally). It's for the 50th Anniversary and it's a copyright extension release. That means only 1968 material will be on it. There will be a good bit of promotion behind this.

Are you saying this because you have a different or the same source as Black Swan on RO or are you just repeating what Black Swan wrote on RO? :)

If that's a big objective then it doesn't seem crazy to think it would only be a 68 release. 50th celebration, 68 was their first year...copyright extension required...perhaps it really is one of those situations where the planets are lining up perfectly...

It'll be interesting to see how they present it. In addition, it would explain why Page went with the Paris show as an extra instead of using material available. Keep that material later for a 50th anniversary release, which would make more money.

2018 is going to be interest....I think it's great that we might get something out of left field like this. But also disappointing that other stuff isn't on the cards. Maybe they're waiting for the other years to come into copyright extension mode. lol
