Can anyone vouch for that website from the UK?? Looking to maybe get the Chicago Quadio box set through them - as a first experiment though with them.

How's their packing, customer service, etc??

I tried the search function but couldn't find anything: appreciate any help!

Have used them on several occasions and found them good to deal with. No problem with packaging and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them (I have no connection to the company, by the way!). Hope this helps.

They have been around for years now and as far as I am aware are a reputable company.

Spin was a great specialist shop in Newcastle until it closed and moved online a few years back. If it's the same people running the site, which it probably is, then they are knowledgeable and friendly and their customer service should be excellent.

I agree that they are a reputable company, but I have some doubts about their attention to detail. I ordered a couple of Zappa discs from them in November last year: despite my writing to them twice, one has arrived (very late) and the other has yet to ship, despite seemingly being in stock elsewhere. I'd have to say that some caution is necessary when dealing with them.

They're fine when stuff is in stock and their prices are competitive.

Their website is a bit unreliable as it will sometimes say things are in stock when they're not. In my experience, they take payment as soon as you make an order which can be frustrating when they turn out not to have something.

Service could be improved as they sometimes don't respond to emails and can't always be contacted by phone easily so it can be a pain to obtain a refund when they take a long time to source something.

I don' t think they are likely to rip anyone off if you can put up with the ineffective communications.

I spoke to Steve at `Spin CDs` about 2 minutes ago, I got through on the first call and explained the rumour around this place. I was a bit worried because I have about £200 worth of orders (XTC vinyl box`s, Van Morrison, Neil Young) Steve assured me that there were no problems just that they were busy and yes there are a `back-log` of emails. In the past I have had issues with `Spin CDs` and when I read the posts on this thread I became a bit worried because `Spin CDs` do take your money up front. I have had orders arriving late which does my impatience no good, but I have stated to deal with them again and yes they are a bit tardy but they are cheaper than Amazon so that`s OK with me. I too am awaiting the arrival of Van Vols: 1,2,3 & 4 and a Gene Clarke DVD which were shipped last week but I was advised to get back to them if they have not arrived by Tuesday. So I reckon you have to place a certain amount of trust with smaller retailers. So it seems `Spin CDs` are still alive.

I hear you, but Spin are really pushing their luck. They seem to be very quick to list an item at a price, but I think that they only worry about sourcing it later on, and they don't have enough staff to stay on top of their distributors. I'm fast approaching the conclusion that 'if it's important enough to preorder then it's too important to order from Spin'.

You're right with what you say and I won't be ordering any more until my current orders are fulfilled. If they come through, well maybe I will order from them again but I felt I had to report on my conversation with Spin's Steve. Thinking about it I reckon I was feeling relieved that they were still trading but we have to remember they are slow in fulfilling orders, so you make your own choices. Cheaper product/longer wait or pay more/faster service. In these days when new releases are announced months before release maybe waiting a week longer ain't too bad. However I will reconsider ordering again if I have a problem with my current orders.

Cancelled my two delayed orders today. I'll report back if there's any problem with the refund, because certainly question-marks have been raised about them with regard to refunds in the past.

After my last post, I had a courteous exchange with Steve Brooks, and my issues appear to be resolved. Furthermore, my latest order arrived about three days after despatch [mind you, I live only 50 miles from Spin]. But credit where it is due. It is frustrating, to say the least, when orders don't arrive [particularly in my case when they have supposedly been sent]. I note all the comments on this thread. But, in the interests of fairness, I feel it important to post an ultimately favourable report of communication with Spin. And they do deal with some cracking merchandise!

This is a dreadful company to deal with, they ignore emails to "customer services",and never give a straight answer on the phone, choosing instead to blame supply problems.Every other vinyl seller in the UK are able to deal with this stuff,so avoid these at all costs !

Over a year later: they never replied, never refunded. I paid a serious chunk of change in order to learn not to order from them.

There seem to be serious problems with this vendor. Have lately been offering 20% discounts and judging by Trust Pilot reviews, this has lead to the predictable increase in orders not arriving and the continued non response to emails and calls. If no refund, I'd suggest contacting bank and asking for a chargeback.

I'm saddened by this. Spin was a fantastic shop in Newcastle once. I used to love going there. They stocked lots of great 60s CDs nobody else had in at great prices. I bought so many CDs there around 10-15 years ago that still get a lot of play. I was disappointed when it closed and became online only.

Ordered the Mofi Donald Fagen One Step back in Oct 2017 & they took the £120 immediately.
    Sent emails, no reply.
Finally got though on the phone, its in customs.
    Phoned again, theres a delay.
Phoned again , its in customs.
Finally I got onto Amex & got a refund.

SPIN CD are simply running their company by borrowing customers money.
For products they will never buy & punters will never receive.

Believe the appalling reviews and walk away.

I ordered the Dylan Gospel Years box set on Dec 3rd and SPIN didn’t deliver it.
I e-mailed, and they promised delivery for Christmas. It didn’t arrive.
I e-mailed again on Jan 2nd was promised delivery in the ‘next few days’. Well, it’s now almost 4 weeks later – and guess what? No CD’s!

So, they’ve had over £100 of my money for nearing 2 months, have not responded to my latest e-mail and I’ve had nothing but disappointment and empty promises.

I'll repeat what has been written above: Believe the appalling reviews and walk away.

    Can say with confidence......YOU WONT!

Annoyingly having it on order with Spin made me miss out on getting Fagen's Nightfly Mofi One Step for certain, elsewhere.

In light of the latest "20% off everything today" offer, I'm curious to know if anyone is actually receiving anything they've ordered from Spin. Or perhaps, like me, you've all decided it's not worth the risk and hassle of dealing with them.

I actually got an email back to my most recent weary request about my order from 2016.

    It’s ‘in-stock soon!’ apparently.

As one reviewer on trustpilot.com summed it up, they have daily offers of 20% discount, but 20% off invisible goods isn’t much of a deal.
