Most most people, I love the original Decade.
Shame the next 10 years were mostly poor for Neil Young, so Decade II never was an option.
But Decade III could have been a winner, with these albums to chose from:

    Freedom
    Ragged Glory
    Arc-Weld
    Dreamin' Man Live '92
    Harvest Moon
    Unplugged
    Sleeps With Angels
    Mirror Ball
    Dead Man
    Broken Arrow
    Year of the Horse

Post the songs that you'd feel would absolutely need to be present to make a killer double cd (triple album).

    Too Far Gone - Freedom
    Someday - Freedom

In my world, I think that '77 to '87 would make a terrific Decade II. Maybe another thread though. III would be great too.

The original decade had unreleased songs and non album singles so I'd add
    Interstate
    Philadelphia
    Dead Man acoustic theme
    Sample and Hold (unplugged)
    Live to Ride
    Modern World

These fall outside your time frame
Just looking at Decade 1 on the Archives and seen that it's from 15 Aug 66 (Burned) to 11 Aug 76 (Campaigner)
So Decade 3 should be Aug 86 to Aug 96 (Life to YotH) by recording date, based on that I'd go with:

    Around the World
    When Your Lonely Heart Breaks
    We Never Danced
    Big Room
    Couple De Ville
    This Note's For You
    American Dream
    This Old House
60 to 0 (unreleased full acoustic)
    Ordinary People (Bluenote Cafe)
    I'm Goin' (b-side)
    Doghouse
    Don't Cry (Eldorado EP)
    Eldorado
    No More (Sat Night Live)
Rockin' In The Free World (Sat Night Live)
    Love & Only Love
    Don't Spook the Horse
    Interstate (b-side)
Dangerbird (unreleased Santa Cruz 13 Nov 90)
    From Hank to Hendrix
    Old King
    Harvest Moon (unplugged)
    Stringman (unplugged)
    Sample & Hold (unplugged)
    Transformer Man (unplugged)
    Philadelphia (non-album single)
    Western Hero
    Change Your Mind
    Sleeps With Angels
    Act Of Love
    Peace & Love
    Throw Your Hatred Down
    Dead Man (acoustic theme)
    Big Time
    Music Arcade

The Unplugged version of Long May You Run may seem unnecessary, especially considering the original in Decade (I), but to me it is the definitive reading of the song.

i would be very happy just to see decade II first.

III is a long long long way away

i've come to the conclusion over the last few years that there is no rhyme or reason to what is going on in the neil young world.

HDCD added, no HDCD, HDCD removed.....archives II.......box sets without individual releases of their contents. live albums in no chronological order.

just a mess. a real and total mess.

I doubt there will be a decade 2 or an archives 2 set. Now he's got the archives website and the hd download shop up and running everything will be released on that after it goes to a paid subscription with single physical releases along the way

Neil Young has said in several interviews that Archives Vol.2 will be released. Elliot Roberts said the same things. In his memories and in recent interviews Neil mentioned the names of some discs. By the way we can't know now as the advent of the NYA website can change the release of the Archives Vol.2. Only website release or will there be an accompanying physical set?

Yes but remember he was talking about decade 2 then archives from the 80's onwards and it finally came out in 2009. I think the work is done for what could be released as an archives 2 box set but now he has the NYA hd steaming & file sales website I'm not sure they'll do a big box set a la archives 1. I'll believe (and buy) it when I see it.

Decade 2 was decade lite, true.
An overview 6 album set 1968 Neil Young's debut dec '68..till 2018 called Decades : spanning 50 years wouldn be interesting where the original Decade ends with 4 album sides for remaining years ( decades )guess that would be around an other extra 30 songs that would be a very commercial release.
