I didn't see a thread yet on this new Summer film, but check out the new trailer...

I know these action/adventure/spy thrillers are completely crazy and silly, but for some reason, I actually enjoy the Tom Cruise films on some level. They're just real enough that I don't roll my eyes and say, "oh, this is ridiculous," and I think they're amusing enough that they're worth watching. I can't deny it's mindless entertainment in a "leave your brain at the door" way, but still fun for what they are.

And here's an intriguing behind-the-scenes look as to how Cruise spent 2000 hours becoming a licensed helicopter pilot (for real) in order to do most of his own stunt-flying in the film...

Tom Cruise may be a little nutty, but by god, I don't think there's a harder-working actor in Hollywood.

We need another Mission Impossible like we need another superhero movie.

Remember when Tom Cruise used to *not* make sequels?

Just as long as Simon Pegg is in it!
JEEZ, if he keep getting big checks for movies like these, he'll NEVER go back to writing!

I think all of them have been good -- unless I missed one in the last couple years. The last one I saw had Philip Seymour Hoffman in it

  7. I'll agree with your assessment.
As the movies progressed they have pushed the "believable" envelope further and further each time. Because of this I was pretty much at my limit with the last version, but they are still fun. Much like a roller coaster, these movies will not alter any portion of your conscience but you get back in line for another spin because it was fun for the sake of fun.

    That would have been MI-III.
Since then there's been a couple more.
MI - Ghost Protocol and MI - Rogue Nation

It's been almost 22 years now since the first in the series was released. I've enjoyed watching all five films thus far and am looking forward to this one.

Love me some M.I. Probably the best over all action agent series ever. And Im a big James Bond fan.

I do think one of the strengths of the series is fans of the films have had 4-6 yrs in between films. We are always ready for the next one because we go "Oh cool! Almost forgot about ol' Ethan. Time to put on the shades "

A little bit soon for another MI. But thats ok. Im ready!

It's nice to re-watch (and every few years or so) the MI-movies...it's what it says on the tin; nice scenery, unbelievable (literally) action sequences, a BIT of romance, intrigue, betrayal and the odd funny moment. Looking forward to this one!

This dude is amazing. I gained a whole new level of respect for him when I learned he did that airplane stunt in MI 5.

A buddy of mine worked with Mr. Cruise on Vanilla Sky and on The Last Samurai, and he said that the actor was almost literally the first guy on the set in the morning and the last guy to leave at night. Total pro 100% of the time. He definitely has his quirks, but Cruise is aware of his limitations and generally picks and chooses his roles very carefully.

Tom Cruise is smart enough to know that he is getting paid millions to become a pilot, horseman, martial artist etc. Also, travel the world over and over. Nice work if you can get it. Go for it Ethan

And a new trailer dropped today. As hokey and silly as these moves are, I gotta say this trailer has totally hooked me right in.

If that's Benji, I'm with you. That character adds a lot to the MI movies. I would miss the big dude if he wasn't there, but it's not the end of the world. But MI without Benji would be a dud.
