I find that Shaun Cassidy's debut album is the very best listening to unwind to after I had a day...or week, or month. His cover of Da Doo Ron Ron has more soul and feeling in it than Aretha Franklin's entire career.

Part of the joy of having a large collection is that I often really have no idea what I’m going to play. I gravitate toward the newer acquisitions but invariably grab something off the shelf that just springs to mind.

Days are as varied as the music itself. What helps you unwind one day may not be the ticket the next. I prefer to just feel my way along.

Something recently rediscovered and reconsidered. Had a day today. Came home and played Aerosmith "Rocks" side 2 --- I spent the last 40 years not caring about Aerosmith, and now I'm digging them totally, artful, hardhitting, and just generally a good way out of vaguely negative feelings of all sorts!!!

I favor classical works, jazz, and fine easy listening, lounge, and exotica sounds.

My first album. Sigh. At least I can excuse it by pointing out that I was 8 and have only younger siblings so didn't have good musical guidance. Still, my Mom likes Elvis and my Dad had a great collection of 1960s rock singles, so why didn't they stop me???
