It's open box, which is fine with Music Direct. I happen to have bought this in January and it is fantastic and you cannot beat the price at $1575! Amazing turntable for the money. Just thought I'd pass this on. I love mine! When I got mine, I believe it was the last one.

VPI only made a certain number of these for Music Direct and they sold out quickly. Basically it is exactly the same as the 2017 version other than the curvy plinth - same motor, platter, tonearm, etc.

Does this include a cartridge?

 

No, but with the money you save you can afford to buy one.

 

Do you believe that it's your last turntable? That's always good to hear. I bought my VPI Scout new from a local dealer in 2014, and I haven't looked back. I have swapped through many cartridges, added better feet and a deerskin turntable mat. I think I could always trade it in for a better turntable up the VPI line, but to be honest I could also live with this turntable for a lifetime. When I purchased it, I wanted to purchase a forever turntable and not just a small upgrade ( I was upgrading from a Rega P1). It would be cheaper to trade it in for a Prime or something better, but at the same time I kind of like upgrading parts here and there as it's my own.

 

I think this is my last turntable. It’s that good.

Just checked MD, "it's no longer available!" Too bad! I'm looking at the VPI Prime, 3D - 10" tonearm, VTA on the fly, and other important features.

What a great deal that was, a little bummed I missed out.

 

When I originally saw that they even had these back in January, I called Bes at MD and he said they just sold 2 and only had 2 left. I put down that deposit immediately.

 

And FWIW, call Bes at MD. He’s great and gave me 15% off in mine. So you can get a brand new one for under $2000 with a discount.

do they make the VPI Prime Scout in Walnut? I've never seen it.

I generally only list used items on that section (too many demo's to try and keep a demo list up to date most of the time!).
