    Hi Folks,

I just received this; I didn't know it was coming....often a Volume 1 doesn't always mean that there will be a Volume 2.

The Official Bootleg Box Set Volume 2: (5CD BOX)

I know that some people passed on the last bootleg box but I enjoyed the last one and this notification is for those of you who may be interested.

I see that the Reseda 1981 show is included; I've always loved that performance, even if it's not 'vintage' Pie. Gutsy and powerful.

    Three Clempson-era shows (NY' 71, Boston '72 & Philly '75) plus two Tench-era gigs (NY '80 & LA '81)...

Do they hold off Frampton-era stuff for a regular live release or what?

Royal Oak Theatre performance on that '80-'81 tour, 'gutsy and powerful' they were....Steve and Jerry really drove the band through a blistering set ! I'm all in on this one !

I passed on the first set due to poor quality (from what I heard). Hoping this set delivers great sound.

Yes, I must admit that the sound of the sets on Vol 1 does leave something to be desired. Bootleg really means bootleg. I've posted this elsewhere but I made contact with the engineer that mixed the King Biscuit Winterland 73 release and he said that there was a lot more of that show in the can (the release was sadly limited to a single CD). I'd love to see an expanded release of that, similar to the recent Fillmore box.

    Humble Pie performing “Tin Soldier”?
    I’d love to hear that.

Thanks for posting. I'd give my left nut for more live Pie with Peter!

I did find this, btw. I've only listened to Live with Me so far, because I think that's one of their best songs not on Rock On, and it sounds pretty good. Thanks for mentioning that. :righton:

My set arrived today, I'm working backwards from 1981 but I'm pleased with what I'm hearing so far. The L.A. Reseda Country Club recording has been cleaned up a little and sounds great. That's always been a favourite of mine and features that stonking version of 'Doctor'.

I'm listening to the 1981 NYC show now and it's even clearer. I've never heard this one before which surprises me as the liner notes state that it was broadcast on the radio. The band probably aren't in the best of moods (Steve: "Some mother****** stole all our equipment so what we're doing is using all this borrowed ****, and errr, I think it'll be OK frankly!"). Sounds good so far, Steve is in full 'cockney' mode and throwing out the profanities.

I'm sure that the quality will dive as I head towards the mid/early 70's shows but I'm pleased so far. It's a double Pie whammy for me today as the 'secret' RSD18 'On 79th Street' LP also turned up. Got that Friday feeling!

Anyone else have their Vol 2 box?

There's another thread discussing the HP Immediate remaster series but as an aside, it's interesting to read Rob Caiger's liner notes for this LP; "I was already collating the band's forthcoming Immediate Records remaster series and deep in recently discovered tape reels".

Sorry......right band, wrong thread! I should have posted the message above here; Humble Pie - On 79th Street ('Secret' RSD18 Release)

  17. I received my Vol. 2 set yesterday. The sound quality isn’t great and it’s about the same as Vol. 1 overall.
That said, I’m glad I have this and it’s still listenable. It’s Humble Pie so
It’s still enjoyable to me even though it’s bootleg quality.

I was looking at this last night on Amazon as I was looking at other titles from other artists' and after seeing the paltry response the first volume has gotten, as well as looking at the setlists/tracking on each disc, I'm on the fence about it. Years ago when the Whiskey A- Go Go disc came out, I took a chance and was pleased by what I heard. I only own the King Biscuit '73 performance and Rockin the Fillmore with Frampton, so I'm a bit limited on Live Pie. Maybe I'll splurge on this one if there's enough positive feedback.

  19. If you don’t have it, you need the Fillmore box with all four shows. It’s stellar.
