Exclusive Bowie vinyl for Brooklyn Museum - David Bowie Official Blog

Parlaphone just announced some exklusive Vinyl for the Bowie Exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum in New York.

Time (U.S. single edit) / The Prettiest Star - silver vinyl picture sleeve 7” single

    Live In Berlin (1978) - 8-track orange vinyl mini-LP

iSelectBowie - 12-track red vinyl LP

Suddenly there is a live-version of "Rebel Rebel" that should have been on the Stage 2017-Version...

Let the bloodbath in the museum-store and later on ebay begin.

  4. So... you can only purchase these Bowie exclusives if you visit the museum, in person? Sheesh. o_O

Yep - that pretty much sums it up.

But thinking about it: My call is that only the colored Version of Live In Berlin is exklusive to the museum and I wouldn't be surprised if we can smash each others head in for a standard black version on Record Store Day.

Following article implies there's a special (unnamed) "Limited edition" vinyl LP which comes with the museum's $250 package, available online now.

Tickets for the Brooklyn Museum’s David Bowie exhibit cost as much as $2,500

If you're traveling from out of town, you're probably ready to dump more than $250 to be there anyway, before everything is said and done.

Berlin 1978 might get a regular CD available everywhere.

Almost any Bowie release will eventually be released to the mass market at some point-guaranteed.

I just bought an advance ticket that lets me skip the line. I'm pretty sure all the collector stuff will be available in the gift shop.

Isn't that the definition of 'exclusive'?

Those picture disc 45s have about 10 tracks that never got a wide release.

“Parlophone” have made following the Bowie catalogue a truly repulsive, loathesome thing for me. In my opinion way beyond healthy commercialism, featuring facile products with no real core or use. Except a dollar shaped one.

so how do these exclusives work do they sell out the first weekend or is there some guarantee of availability throughout the run? would suck to plan a trip for the second weekend only to have it all sold out and on ebay.

It's in Brooklyn until July. Just book and hope you don't get stuck with the remaining 7" picture discs?

You can supposedly book the deluxe packages ahead of time for a particular calendar date.

Would I be correct in thinking that you need to purchase a museum ticket to visit the gift shop? As in, you can't just walk off the street and directly into the shop without buying a ticket?

You can just go to the shop without paying the entrance fee.

Here during the Dutch exhibition the vinyl goodies were sold out a couple of times. So many visitors were disappointed on their day of visit.

Right from the get go Ebay sellers were lining up to get as many copies as they could, with friends etc. The Museum store was outside the exhibition area, so anyone could walk in.

for 250 bucks could probably save on flight and hotel and just pay the bastards on ebay much as it would pain me.

realistically I will do neither would be nice if it came near me some day though.

For special shows like this, the goodies should only be available to those who pay the entrance fee to the exhibit.
Hopefully Brooklyn Museum learned from past showings of the exhibit and will do that.

I'm dithering. Transportation would be my least expense, but there's food&lodging, etc.

On the downside, I've seen both the V&A exhibition film (live satellite thingy), and the Q&As Sotheby's streamed when they auctioned his art off, and found the latter much more rewarding.
