If you've been alive long enough, you remember this as a massive cutout.

It was available in skidload quantities for pennies in the mid '70s, and you could buy it at any record store in the US that carried cutouts for about $2.

Which doesn't matter today, of course.

I seem to remember the same being true for Journey Through the Past.

I don't remember seeing Journey Through the Past as commonly.

Zuma for sure. Zuma and On the Beach were the two I remember as colossal overpressing/cutouts in the mid '70s.

And later, ReAcTor was available as a cutout almost as soon as it was released.

American Stars and Bars and Hawks and Doves were also available as cutouts in large quantities.

Journey Through the Past didn't sell, despite the fact that Neil Young had big album sales up to that point. They probably assumed that one would as well and pressed accordingly.

Cutouts were, perhaps, the greatest thing ever!!!

Atlantic and Warner Bros. LPs were cutouts often 3-6 months after being released.

What’s interesting is $2.00 in 1975 is equal to a little over $9.00 today, roughly what Amazon is selling it for currently.

I bought a sealed cutout of Hawks and Doves recently for a reasonable price, too.

The title I'm going to use my Neil Young Lionel brand time machine to buy is Mirror Ball. Cut-outs galore. I have read here about a distributor coming into a record store, asking for a few bucks to take a box of 25 copies of Mirror Ball off their hands. Who knew?

If you are going to go in a time machine I think you can find better things to buy than that. You can still find that CD very cheap. LOL

I was talking about the LP. Sealed copies go for around $80. Not my favorite work by either Neil or Pearl Jam by a long shot but I wouldn't mind the side income from selling the contents of a dozen boxes.

I wasn't aware of that coming out on vinyl as it was from the height of the CD era. Nice. It is a decent album from what I remember.

The cut-out boxes in the Friday shipment were like Christmas every week!
Oh, the cut-out LPs I bought! A mono copy of 'Freak Out' by the Mothers of Invention; the Robert Rauschenberg version
of the Talking Heads' 'Speaking In Tongues'; the imports of 'Sandinista' and 'Armed Forces' with the fold out cover; The Modern Lovers first album; multiple Neil Young titles... I am filled with joy just thinking about these! Hahaha. I have tons of cut outs in my collection.

I bought that first Modern Lovers album as a cutout too. It's the original pressing on the "Home of the Hits" label. I still have it.

Stax Gold 1968-1974 for $8.99. Out of stock but lock in the price

I don’t have any info on that pressing but willing to find out for that price, as it has a bunch of great singles like private Number, whatcha see is whatcha get, and a few bigger hits.

So like a CD pressed on vinyl basically? The amazon link says 2012 on sale date, but I see what you're seeing on discogs. Tempted at that price to just see what it is when it gets fulfilled, since I like the tracklist more than the Stax Number Ones vinyl comp from 2010
