    Hello Everyone,

I recently acquired a record with something on it that I've just never seen before:

    Imgur

It's not anything related to an old poly bag, and this is actually copper/amber colored. Thinking it might be paint, I tried some Goo Gone, but it stayed exactly the same. In advance, I can assure you that this record was thoroughly cleaned before the GG tried to help. :)

Any hints, suggestions, guesses, etc. are much appreciated!

Is there any noise there when you play through it?

Yep. I'm keeping it, because I searched a long time for it.

Hard to tell from the photo but maybe it's paint or some paper-like dust that was pressed in at the factory?
Did the seller mention this? I would return it, it's going to stick in your craw. Stuff like that makes a loud noise and yours has many rotations. You'll find another copy imo

Could be some random orange PVC pellets that went into the black mix. If it makes a sound its probably some sort of debris though.

Looks to me a patch of vinyl from pellets that didn't get the full carbon black colouring. I have had similar and often there is no effect on sound. If it reproduces a repetitive noise best return it. Have you tried wet cleaning?

    It definitely makes a sound.

It's been cleaned as thoroughly as possible, so I'm really not sure what the next step is. It is staying with me, though.

I thought this ought to have gone in the Music section when I first read the title...

Manic Street Preachers - Lipstick Traces. It was a long and difficult search to finally land one, and I truly don't want to start over again.

Well you have your answer then! It’s lipstick on the record

But Goo Gone takes care of lipstick, and that didn't do it! :p

I get you, I can barely be bothered when its on a less expensive record, let alone my rare ones.

Oh, I get bothered a lot, trust me! But this is a very rare record, and sometimes you have to see the big picture. :)

Did you buy it online? Was there any mention of the debri/ discount for it? Looks like two or more tracks are ruined.

I know it seems absurd but it is true. I have never seen a dirty record.
I think the reason is because I gave an order to my servants to clean them on the KLAudio before they put them on the turntable for me to play.

Please, I'm not interested in returning it. The seller was upfront with me and didn't do anything wrong.

The tracks aren't totally ruined. Just trying to figure out what the heck this thing might be.

Looks like a pressing defect. What, I have no idea. Guess we will never know

Hard to say from a photo, maybe even in real life. I have an ultrasonic if you want to send it to me I'll put it in. Cavitation might be your last hope if you've tried other things.

Thats nice of you. I would also in this case recommend the vinyl cleaning service ( cant remember the name but there are several), which is probably your best bet at getting things completely clean.
