I think those that dislike her or her acting are more inclined to comment, mostly because they know it's a minority opinion and one they want to explain.

I loved her as Sister Aloysius in Doubt. Right off I can't think of a better nun characterization

That performance helped seal her reputation for me as well. Having been raised Catholic, I can attest to the fact that there are all kinds of nuns, but when the script calls for a sly, firm, unyielding one, nobody could have done that better.

Ah, so you actually haven't seen her in any movie for the past 25 years. Good to know.

Begging to differ with you HenryH, actors live by another set of rules, they are here to entertain us. We pay them huge amounts of money for that! When they all start spouting about politics, it's time for them to shut their mouths, most people don't want to hear that banter. I for one have stopped going to movies because of these idiots. They will get not a penny of my hard earned $$'s.

I voted her a great actress because she is, I hate her blabbing about things she should keep to herself!! Bah!!!!

I wish people, in this forum, wouldn't blab about an actor or actress blabbing about their opinions. Especially since most only find it irritating when they don't agree with those blabbed opinions.

I guess you can't have everything.

Is everyone as equally offended by Clint Eastwood's "blabbing"? I don't recall these sort of comments in his threads . . .

I didn't say that. I have seen her in some movies released during the past 25 years. But she wasn't the reason why I watched those movies. She also wasn't the reason why I didn't watch "It's Complicated" or "Mamma Mia"

I don't want to hear the opinions of celebrities I agree with.

Actually, I do want to hear that banter. I suspect many of us wish we could have such a sizeable audience to listen to our banter. She, like everyone, has opinions and a right to express those opinions.

She's a better actor than any of you of this thread!

  17. Did you see her performance in The Deer Hunter? That’s about as far from “cold” as I’ve ever seen.

  18. Yeah, everyone knows you forfeit your right to express your opinions in public when you decide to be an actor.:crazy:

  19. I never much cared for Clint Eastwood’s views on a number of issues, but I’ll defend his right to express them in any forum he chooses. I’ll also keep watching his movies ‘cause I respect his work.

IMO she's a very good actor, that gradually became a star, but lacking real "star quality" and charisma. So recently she's basically trapped for playing herself (as is usual for any star), and this is not very captivating or interesting.

A legend in her own mind. Even poor Laura Dern acts rings around her.
