I quit worrying about peer pressure a long time ago. I have nothing to hide in my collection. If you don't like it, just keep moving.... :agree:

What's embarrassing or unfashionable changes over time. If you had records by The Monkees in the early 70's your taste would have been questioned, but not now.

They really were. They almost channeled ABBA on a few of their singles. For a time they were huge, hard to think now.

They rag on you for Wierd Al? Then you know you shouldn’t care what they think.

  7. The first music I ever owned was The Partridge Album and whatever the Osmond Brothers album is with "One Bad Apple" on it. They are still in my collection. If anybody mentions them my reply is "a great pop song is a great pop song". "Apple" and "I Think I Love You" are still great pop songs. So screw them!

I wouldn't have anyone over who doesn't appreciate Culture Club or Wham!.

And yes, I do own both and play them when friends are over.

Unfortunately everyone loves my favourite artists: Grateful Dead, Meat Puppets, Phish, The Smiths, Blood Hollies, et al. At times I wish I dug rogue acts like the Beatles or Neil Young so I could at least pretend to be an outlaw.

Not ashamed of any music I like. Never really understood the "guilty pleasure" concept and all that.

I like Yesterday Once More, Superstar and We've Only Just Begun by the Carpenters. I feel better now that I've admitted to that.

isn't it funny about The Smiths? Used to be lumped in with "only for the artsy" and 35 years later, everyone is discovering them and praising them and you can find most of their records at Barnes and Noble and Urban Outfitters, I find it all very strange.

Poor MC Hammer. Lives in a small, lower middle class town called Tracy now. You saw Behind The Music so I'm sure you know why. But growing up around suburban Oakland, he had great singles like "Ring Em (original version)" and "Stupid Def Y'All" before that album came out - and we all loved it.

I absolutely love the song "Will You Be Staying After Sunday" by Peppermint Rainbow. But when I look at the video I just crack up at the fruity outfits the guys are wearing. But the vocals are stunning!

I have nothing to hide in my collection. It ranges from country to metal to punk to film scores to easy listening. I grew out of what people think years ago. I do though have had to explain once or twice why I own a few Hannah Montana albums. :D

Lol at the ‘I don’t care what others think’ crowd.

I dare you to wear a nickelback or limp bizkit tee to the next show you attend.

If I liked those bands, why wouldn't I do that?

(In fact, I'm reminded of the scenes in episodes of Parks and Recreation where Adam Scott's character Ben wears a Letters to Cleo t-shirt, which was simply an in joke because the showrunner, Michael Schur, is still a Letters to Cleo fan from his college days in Boston in the 90s. The band even reformed to play in an episode!)

I'd rather do absolutely anything else before wearing a Maroon 5 shirt.
