Always dug his solo stuff. His first one in particular for me as well as Ride A Rock Horse. I do like when he does more of the soul-tinged stuff like "World Over" so I am also very excited for this. The album with Wilko was killer. Kinda interesting he said Pete offered to play on a few tracks. Would that make those Who tracks then? Pete already has two Who tracks on his Iron Man album. Probably not though.

Wonder if the title track is the Elvis song from King Creole?

Cool! I've been listening to various Who recordings over the past two months for a book I'm writing, and I've found Roger's stuff pretty interesting and enjoyable overall.

I'm thinking it's the Garnet Mimms song Zeppelin used to cover in 1969.

The Who, of course ;) But seriously, it's a reference book of all their albums and singles, solo and as a group. No publisher at the moment, but I'll worry about that once I finish it.

Look forward to this. I hope this also somehow motivates someone into getting his back catalog back in print on CD.

I second that. As I don't have any on cd. And they seem to cost a fortune.

Another interview about upcoming tour dates that mentions the new solo album.

“The kind of music I’ve done on my new solo album is very much like what The Who were doing before Pete started writing songs, and that’s been very exciting. It’s a great box of chocolates, the album.”

Hoping the album captures the passion Roger has for these songs, similar to the last Rolling Stones album.

From the BBC Radio 2 Twitter account.

Tomorrow Roger Daltrey unveils his first solo single in 26 years and he'll be introducing it LIVE on The @achrisevans Breakfast Show!

Make sure you're listening at 8am to hear the world exclusive first play.

Excited to get a new song by a member of The Who. Also, I cannot believe Rocks in the Head is already 26 years old .

Interesting that Roger is finally releasing that "Certified Rose" tune that he's been teasing since at least 2004. This should be especially exciting for our fellow member @johnny moondog 909 / boris number 9 as I'm pretty sure he wanted to add it to his "new Who" playlist. Even though I'm assuming Pete won't be anywhere on the album.

According to the link reb posted, Pete's on seven of the 11 tracks.

......and that's what I get for scanning too quickly and not reading!

I'm also a bit more excited now that I know that Pete's on it. Though I wonder, if they are going into the studio together, why won't they won't do more Who material? Or hell, if they don't want that kinda pressure, just call it a Townshend/Daltrey album (though it would probably confound the people who know about "Real Good Looking Boy", "Old Red Wine", Endless Wire and "Be Lucky"). I suppose the difference is that if it was Pete's material, he'd labor over it a lot more, and that's why the only new Daltrey sung Townshend tune we've heard in the last 11 plus years is "Be Lucky." Which brings me to the scrapped 2008 (?) r&b covers album they were gonna do with T-Bone Burnett. It kinda strikes me that this project is kinda similar with Roger tackling some soul favorites along with some original material. The only catch being instead of original Townshend material, it's original Daltrey material.

I dig that new Daltrey track. Sounds like he's having fun.

Didn't Roger say there was no point to recording albums any more as a reason for why The Who might not produce any new music? Releasing a new solo album doesn't seem to jive with that statement.

I highly doubt that Pete and Roger went into the studio together - there would have been too much temptation for it to then turn in to a Who project as opposed to a Daltrey solo album. More than likely, Pete offered to contribute to 80% completed tracks that he was given by Roger and was then sent files to play or sing to and gave files back for Roger's consideration.

Roger "allegedly" never allows Pete to be present when he's recording his vocals so I would imagine that he had very strict ideas around what this would be once completed.

Can't wait to hear "Certified Rose" and whether it includes a contribution from John as it was reportedly worked on c2000/01

Looking at the tracklisting I see The Love You Save. Is he really covering the Jackson 5???

Joe Tex's song of the same name seems more Daltrey's style.

When it comes to statements, pronouncements and proclamations coming from "Whoville", its best to treat it like an unconfirmed rumor.

Really do dig the single! Looking forward to getting the album.
