Well he wanted an MP3 just for a mix tape. Not everyone needs the best quality sound all the time. In the absence of anything else at all do you actually have a better solution? Why do I even bother trying to help someone with a simple suggestion, when others decide to make unhelpful sarcastic comment where none was asked for?

It's all good. This forum attracts both the best and the worse! I rarely venture outside of LTOV for this reason. :)

OK, so here's what I would do: Go online and find a place to download the missing mp3s, probably sourced directly from a CD.

Since not a penny is going to the people who made the music or own the masters anyway, you might as well.

I listened to songs from these. I ended up ordering The Shape of Things by itself here on Amazon US for about $17. I guess Gary Numan also sits in with them, so that is good enough for me! :D

Thanks for letting us know Imarcq! :righton:

John Foxx was the singer of Ultravox for the first few albums. He only recently revived his career after many years away from the limelight. I believe he was lecturing in Graphic design for a while. He would definitely be closer to Numan although while Numan slowly earned his cool again after the 80s, Foxx never lost it but faded from the limelight. The one that is supposed to be 'the' album is Metamatic which was is first solo after leaving Ultravox. Midge Ure replaced him as I'm sure you know?

Hey, no, I sure didn't know that! Of course Numan is THE guy as far as I'm concerned. Dude, if you haven't heard (or even more so BOUGHT) 'Songs from a Broken Mind' you have a whole new dimension awaiting you my friend! :) I have a 2nd one on order from Amazon because it looks like it is going out of print. it will blow your frigg'n PANTS off mate! :yikes:

I will DEFINITELY check out Metamatic. Thanks kindly for the excellent information Bro! :righton:

Ah... I'm listening to Metamatic now on YouTube. Dude, he sounds JUST like Gary Numan! A bit of a cleaner sound and not quite as droney, but VERY similar.

I can get the new 2014 remaster which I THINK is cut at Strawberry from Amazon for about $19 shipped. I can get the original UK NM for about $25-30...??? Hmmm...

    Good stuff mate! [IMG]

The 2014 mastering of Metamatic is THE version to get. However, note that if you're going to buy the CD, a new three-disc version is due out in May.

Gary Numan has credited John Foxx as an influence in interviews. Numan is a huge fan.

Ah, that's why I am SO glad that you guys know your poop! Thanks mate!

Although the CD likely would be good in THIS case to get ALSO due to all the Xtra stuff, I'm targeting the vinyl for now...

Lol. I have quite a few of numans recent stuff including Pure, Splinter and Savage. Plus all the early ones. Saw him live in Sydney a few years ago. You might enjoy the recent Numan documentary La La something or other.... :)

You can get the new 2014 Metamatic Vinyl from Rarewaves on eBay. It's £10.50 free shipping from the UK site but I expect similar price from USA eBay. :)

Funny I picked up an original Metamatic LP AND the 2014 CD pressing late last year at the same shop for $20 total. AMAZING album.

Yes it was a great gig. He even brought a little black cat with him skillfully balanced on his head. ;)
