A couple of years ago after reading the bio of David Huddleston when he passed away I realized he was in my 2 favorites Blazing Saddles and The Big Lebowski.
Those alone make a good résumé.

Four Lions (2010): It takes a special kind of film to make the story of four British men travelling to Pakistan to join a terrorist training camp absolutely hilarious but this film does just that. An incredible piece of black comedy and an important social commentary on religious martyrdom.

There are too many to choose one, but this is the epitome of both cerebral and laugh out loud comedy to me and my personal favorite comedy.

There's a slew of Corman produced films that are absurd in either written humor or that fact that they thought they could get away with some of their filmmaking decisions/techniques.

    Real Genius.

"I want to see more of you around the lab." "Fine, I'll gain weight."

Outstanding one-liners, slapstick comedy, cerebral comedy, all jammed into one movie. Killer soundtrack, too.

I'm not sure that it's definitely the funniest movie I ever saw (as the OP asks), but I saw This is Spinal Tap on opening night at the King Cinema in downtown Seattle back in 1983, and when I got home late that night, I crawled into bed, started to doze off, and literally started laughing out loud thinking about the scene where Derek Smalls goes through the metal detector at the airport. No other movie has had that effect on me.

“This is Spinal Tap.” I love rock music so this movie made me laugh all the way through watching it.

I was one of the few people who actually saw it in the movie theater when it was released. I think there were three or four people watching it. I know it was only in the theaters where I live for a week or two. It really gained steam on the VHS release back in the 80’s.

I still watch it once a year and love it to this day!

    Anchorman was hilarious.

    Others:

    Blazing Saddles
    Young Frankenstein
    This is Spinal Tap
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

That’s what comes to mind after some thinking. I’m sure there are others.

Probably not very woke of me, but I suspect it was Bruno. Spinal Tap is a better film but it didn’t make me uncomfortable with surpressed laughter. Third place: Withnail and I.

"The Room" is a laugh riot.

Of course, it's supposed to be a Drama, but...
