Which one will be the last? What will the last title it presses be? When will it shut down its clean room air scrubbers and cut its last payroll checks?

It will obviously be a William Hung CD titled...."Every Song You Never Wanted to Hear Sung By William Hung"

Without a doubt the last CD titles ever pressed will be more Who and Kiss compilations.

It'll probably be a plant in Japan, I believe CDs are still fairly popular there.

And it'll definitely sound better than an American-pressed CD of identical data would have sounded.

I wish for an elegant end to CD's and that things will go full circle, so to speak, and the last CD pressed would be the same as the first was.

I think it will be Who and Doors compilations.

I’m going to open a cd pressing plant on my property. I’m even going to invent a new style. It’s going to be a LP sized disc and the player is going to have the laser instead of a stylus, but the stylus laser it comes with will be junk. You’ll have to go online and dump another $250 into an acceptable one. I’ll press the CDs with a vinyl noise background track that has crackles and pops. I’ll sell them for $70 a disc.

Then I’ll have the last cd pressing plant and never shut it down.

I think Japan too. The CD business seems robust there. Can still see CD's being pressed in 50 years time so maybe the 100th anniversary remix of Sgt Pepper will be the last.

Hopefully, I will never see this day. It would be very sad. Long live the super fantastic compact disc!

It'll be in 100 years time: a new Hendrix album of "previously unreleased" outtakes, jams and alternate mixes ("Venus Blues" or something).

Probably. There seems an almost infinite supply of Hendrix outakes. Mind boggling!

In Japan, they got over mp3 before most of us heard of it and the vinyl revival there is so old now that they're probably mostly into their proliferating CD pressing plants.
Don't get me started about how many there are in China.
It's minidisc plants that are under threat. Where's the love, people?

well if we regress to vinyl, especially the shoddy new wave of vinyl, i'll only be buying second hand. i personally don't want an end to the format

JB - "Is that so? I thought you'd be calling up some time, but I honestly thought you'd died mate after not producing anything of any artistic value for the last 45 years."
BM - "Yes. The final CD plant is due to close in Germany next week. Hang on - what about my collaboration with Kerry Ellis? And we're still touring with Adam Lambert and discussing an idea around a virtual karaoke album which would just blow people's minds."
JB - "Blowing minds? Wasn't Kerry handling that for you specifically? Whatever. Don't worry oh Great Curly-Haired one. They're already busy knocking up a special limited edition Super-Duper-Mega-Deluxe Edition of "Greatest Hits" with a previously un-heard edit of 'We Will Rock You' as a bonus track which has one full half second of silence removed from after the fade-out."
BM - "Jim, you're a genius. That'll fool 'em. Ta ta."

    'Shoddy new wave" of vinyl?

Either quit buying new wave records, or buy from marquee labels like IR, MFSL, AP, etc.

Of course, 4 Men With Beards and B2B/Friday Music are usually terrible.

It helps to be informed, as it's not a 'one blanket statement fits all' situation, there, MATE.

    It helps to be informed.
