I don't think the bonus content is any sort of draw relative to the actual show. I sold my individual seasons 1-6 blu-rays and avoided buying season 7. HBO does such a good job packaging complete boxes to save shelf-space that I ended up collecting the complete box after buying individual seasons of Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos and Entourage. The latter were easy decisions because I think they only had the final couple of seasons on blu-ray before they did the box, so not much duplication. If I have to wait until 2020 for the complete GOT box, so be it. I've overdosed on 1-7 so the break will be worth it. I ended my subscription to AMZ prime that was linked to my HBO. I'm all blu-ray. No big data monitoring of what I watch (or listen to), thank you.

My concern with 1-8 Game Of Thrones (2020) complete box set is the discs will be held in paper holders ..these have a tendency to scratch discs. The original ( individual seasons )blu ray boxes are fine.

I can't think of any HBO sets that use paper holders except the Entourage, which uses a finish that doesn't scratch discs. BDs are resistent to scratching anyway. My Sopranos, Wire and Boardwalk Empire boxes all use blu-ray cases for each season within the box.

The real offenders are Breaking Bad and Mad Men, which are cheap paper and not ergonomic, respectively. But HBO is a class act (makes better shows, too) and I have no complaints.

Breaking Bad was the worst. Brand new BD steelbox had faulty discs.

But, all my blu ray Game Of Thrones play ..each season. I'll wait till I hear good reviews /comments first re; complete box set.

Fair enough, but by then trying to sell your individual season on ebay may be an exercise in futility.

I'll keep them if the complete GOT(1-8) has some faulty discs I'll swap them assuming the discs look the same. That's what I did with the old bd Breaking Bad box when the Limited Steelbook Blu Ray box had some discs that were faulty.

It was supposed to wrap up in seven seasons. Instead of doing one 10-episode seventh season, they broke it into a 7-episode seventh and a six-episode eighth. So we're not being shortchanged, we're getting extra, compared to the original outline.

Supposedly 5 Game Of Thrones prequels planned, solace I guess.

My understanding is that they may be running five ideas up the flagpole, only one will get the salute... :)

If they were asking me, it would star Ian McShane as Brother Ray.

well judging by the last season, the writers don't seem to care about any of that anymore. i expect explosive episode after explosive episode and even dumber plotting. i'll still be watching, of course!

Yeah, I was gonna say the same. Last season is the first one that soured me at all on the series and its the first season I don't plan to buy (for now) on blu-ray. Have to see how it all finished up and if the final season is great, I may change my mind. Still excited for it to come back, but the problems last season did bug me.

The battles....the bigger and more elaborate they get, for me, coincides with the writing getting weaker and weaker. GOT isn't LOTR, or at least it's not supposed to be. Which season seems most unlike LOTR? I'd say the 1st 2, with each season that followed getting progressively more simple and sanitized. I used to think LOTR was for the kids and GOT for the adults, now, not so much.
