Sure! CrocoJazz is also very good (I had got many many years ago a nice copy of A Love Supreme from them). By the way, Paris Jazz Corner has published a great book on Tal Farlow which I also purchased (65 Euro):
Has anyone gotten their hands on a copy of the new AP 33 of Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster yet? Any thoughts on how it stacks up against other versions? Gerry Mulligan Ben Webster-Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster-200 Gram Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds
I know it's Friday when... I play CTI/kudu albums one after the other. Now playing a sweet one: Sugar
Bob Dylan "New Morning" Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD. One of my favorite Bobs, sounding so good this morning.
Miles Davis "Milestones" Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD Just amazing music that never loses the power to kick my ass. Calm little Miles sitting there all relaxed . . . when inside the cover the music is waiting to explode.
Just realized that it's been really long time since I listened to Herbie. So, this evening it will be only him. Will start with
NP Oliver Lake Organ Qt. - What I Heard (Passin' Thru) Fans of Larry Young should check this out. Jared Gold is the real deal.
Now spinning the new Nels Cline record. The Nels Cline 4 - Currents, Constellations. With Julian Lage, Scott Colley, and Tom Rainey.
Disc 1 of this four disc set released today. These are the MONO versions of the albums and hot damn they sound good. Mastered by Seth Foster, good job Seth!
"Blue And Sentimental", I presume? I find that the later in the evening you play it, the better it sounds.
Quincy Jones ‘The Birth of a Band’ was recorded by Bob Fine! The CD was mastered by Dennis Drake. I have the WG CD that sounds spectacular. Quincy Jones - The Birth Of A Band
I could not find any clear document as to who recorded the Emarcy’s Clliford Brown Sessions at the Fine Studios. But it’s no wonder if it was Bob Fine.
Enjoyed listening to Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond today, a recent 24/192 purchase from 7digital. A word of warning: my copy has a glitch near the end of the track Blue Rondo where one of the channels has a dropout. Not sure if other issues of this album suffer the same fate.
Yes, I'm looking very much forward to it, probably for that late evening spin. A friend of mine keeps chiming me about how great Grant Green is, and I thought this was the record I would splurge on since I had already been wanting to get it anyway. Early evening Friday pop music is hogging my jazz time right now... cheers @kw21925.
NP LP 7 -B from Savoy Jazz Charlie Parker Complete Savoy And Dial Sides Of course it’s great to hear the classic monumental tracks but I’m finding huge pleasure in noticing other songs I have really not paid any attention to at all in the past There is a great session from November 1947 for Dial where he does 3 ballads. Yes unusual. They are all sublime. Out of Nowhere in particular has a flowing but then quite angular jabs in places for a ballad solo. Magic stuff really. Miles Davis is great in this session too I have been smacking myself in the head like Dobby from Harry Potter a lot lately...
