Mike Pinder appeared at the Rock hall of Fame today with Lodge, Hayward, and Edge. Hayward spoke briefly as did Jon Bon Jovi at an event there.
Mike at red carpet with Lodge. But not at pre induction interview. So not likely to perform with the others
Yes, I'm pretty sure it was stated earlier in the last week or two that Mike would not be playing. I'm just glad he's still alive to attend, unlike poor Ray, who wasn't as lucky.
I don't have HBO so thanks for the play by play . I don't have Imgur on my phone so I can't post the pictures but there are many Moody Blues pictures here among the other inductees . Scroll down to the pictures: Howard Stern Inducts Bon Jovi Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Thanks for the info. I wonder why Mike didn't speak ? Hopefully he hasn't had a stroke or some other issue where he has trouble speaking. If that isn't the case, seeing that he looks comfortable with the other guys I can't figure out why he wouldn't take his turn at the podium.
I think you may have the reason. There was a recent article in Rolling Stone about “Nights” and Mike was interviewed. Either these were old quotes, or perhaps the answers were via email?...not sure. He skipped the red carpet interview also.
If that's the case I certainly wish him the best and its totally understandable why he didn't play or sing also. The other unfortunate possibility is a Alzheimer's sort of memory loss situation. Neither case is good and I certainly hope I'm wrong.
Moodies played 4 songs in this order Singer in Rock Band Wildest Dreams Nights Ride My Seesaw No All Star jam afterward. End of show.
Ray passing sort of reminds me of when the DC5 finally got picked for the hall. Mike Smith died before the actual ceremony also. Sad in both cases. I don't care one bit about the Hall of Fame but it's an honor for these guys so I wish all five could have been there.
Yeah, I was real bummed about Ray. You know it is funny, when I first got into the Moodies all those years ago Ray was my least favorite. But 40 years after the fact he became my favorite by a big margin. I think a lot of their fans felt the same considering the applause that he got. I had the honor of meeting Mike at a Barnes and Noble Or Border’s back in the late 90’s I think it was when he was doing a publicity tour for his “Among The Stars” album. Nice guy and when I told him that I didn’t have a CD player so I couldn’t buy the record (which was true), the guy literally called out to me as I was walking away and had me place a special order for the cassette at customer service. How could I refuse the great Mike Pinder? Anyways, I still love that release and it is extra special for me knowing that a Moody Blue member actually talked me into buying one of their releases. Which was something that I never needed before as I was glad to support them in any capacity.
