And all baseball hall of famers are as good as Babe Ruth, right? But that’s not actually how it works.

Wow no All Star Jam. Then again, with how long each induction went, that’s not THAT surprising.

Thought they would've done "Go Now" with Denny Laine there.

Hooray for Seesaw!! My favorite of their songs, and it just seems it's never gotten enough attention. That it got the old save-the-best-to-last treatment is incredible. I wish they could have fit in Legend of a Mind.

  13. So...who inducted Dire Straits and who appeared there from the band (probably John Illsey, Pick Withers and Guy Fletcher but not David or Mark).

From what I've seen, they had no one to give an induction speech and illsley, Fletcher and Clark each spoke and accepted the awards.

Yeah Dire Straits had to induct themselves. How shoddy is that.

It's shameful and a reflection of where the HOF is at in 2018!

  17. That's odd. I know that Knopfler had two choices to offer one of them being Clapton. I'm assuming that they didn't play (although Fletcher was suggesting they would play a song unplugged). I was reading that David elected not to attend when the Hall, after agreeing to pay for his flight, backed out.

No performance and barely a mention beyond the band members speeches. I doubt it will make the broadcast, it was very strange and disrespectful.

John Illsey posted around April 1st that a trio may perform an "Acoustic unplugged" selection of Dire Straits songs, it was a bit of humor John said last week.

I mean honestly though "Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame" as a concept is very un-rock n' roll

I'm typing the below, so you beat me to it.

In some way, this is good for early important songs...........hey, "Rocket 88" is considered the 1st Rock & Roll song. "Louie Louie" is the important garage rock anthem.

But a lot are also seeing it as a way for Jann Wenner to throw a bone to artists/groups who will never get in. As Link Wray, Steppenwolf, and Procol Harum have either been nominated, or discussed here and other sites in the past, this category could be considered a kiss of death for them ever getting inducted in the future.

As someone who wanted to see The MC5 get in these last 2 years, I dread that instead "Kick Out The Jams" might be a single for the class of 2019, and that's the end of discussion.

I didn't hear what John said but I know ALan Clark said the same thing, an acoustic version of "Telegraph Road" with weird instrumental choices and 3 part harmonies.
