I picked up Pop yesterday, really happy that I finally have every U2 studio album on vinyl. Artwork looks *great* and both records are flat and silent. Although it will never be my favorite, it's still a good record and it was fun to have an excuse to revisit it. I do like having things split over fours sides - it makes getting through certain parts of the album feel like less of a chore :)

Are these Optimal pressings affected by no-fill? This might account for some of the noise reports...arguably one of the worst plants currently for this.

Interesting that the remaster wav files are still brickwalled. I am doing a recording of the vinyl to see how it stacks up against the original CD, the remaster wavs and a vinyl rip.

Because they don't press enough the first time around.

I wouldn't have expected them to be anything other than a rip of the CD. Labels rarely put in that kind of effort to do anything beyond that.

They are new remasters, that have not been released on CD yet. They are a bit different, but still walled.

There's plenty of good cheap U2 in the used racks. No need

I just donated the first three LPs to a record show. They may still be there.

I was at 3 record stores yesterday and saw most titles available. Don't remember seeing ATYCLB.

ATYCLB and Achtung Baby were very hard to find for good price (Achtung Baby still is).
There are loads of bootlegs available ...

ATYCLB is one of my favorites, and I also enjoy HTDAAB. I have them in my Amazon cart, but I don’t want to pull the trigger before researching. They are remasters, right? How do they sound compared to the original CD’s?

So is the 16/44 download a remaster as well, thus being different than an original CD?

Anyone heard if the best of 1980-90 vinyl is still getting reissued in this round of releases?

Boy thru Wide Awake in America are pretty easy to find in the used shops here, Bought them new, when they were originally released. Achtung onwards, not so much. Picked up reissues as I saw them over the last couple years.

I just finished the Pop reissue and I could not be happier! I sold my original pressing the day I heard about the reissues and I am glad I did because the reissue sounds fantastic. My copy is flat, centered, very quiet (only very mild clicks and the first seconds of B1) and sounds wonderful. It is very bass heavy but thats in the mix, it may appear muddy because of that, but to my ears its still punchy, especially Staring at the sun and If God will .... sound really good. I can only recommend it.
