My wife will kill me George. Her line..."Please no more classical CDs. You possibly can't listen to all of them!" They just don't get it.
Man, I hear ya again. Space-wise, the box takes up the space of two CDs anyway. Who are your two sets, by the way?
I agree with George on that Fischer set! I do own the CD set but a cheap alternative for those who download (mp3/flac). 7 digital are almost giving it away... Ludwig van Beethoven: The Comple... | Annie Fischer | MP3 Downloads | 7digital United States
Now playing the following CD from my JS Bach collection ... Arthur Grumiaux, the man who could make his violin sing. What a great violinist he was!
Wife: No more CDs in the house, we don't have space. Me: We should get rid of some things then. Wife: Your books, this house looks like a library. Me: No way!
I bought the FLAC from 7Digital and had to completely retag everything. It had no composition names, only movement names. I found a list of what was in the CDs and was able to retag it from there, but it was a bit of work.
I have noticed my FLAC music files created under the MS WMA Player are named as n.FLAC, i.e. 1.FLAC, 2.FLAC, 3.FLAC, etc. It looks like the name of the album is the master file name. That was just my cursory check. As a retiree, I am too old to muck around with the bits and bytes, filename extension, permissions, etc.
Happy weekend, all! Now enjoying the amazing performances of Webern's music, CD 3 from the above 3CD set!
Any opinions on this Karajan Brahms Symphonies SHM-SACD set released last year? I'm wondering how it compares with the latest CD release.
Sorry, I haven't heard that particular disc, but I know that the performances, from 1959 -1965, his first set for DG, are superb!
I have never heard any music from these composers. Would you say they are similar to Scriabin or Prokofiev? Lately I have been listening to a lot of Bach and Brahms...
Thanks I may have to sample some Schoenberg. Is there a single piece or disc you would recommend starting out with? I usually prefer symphony music to chamber or solo works...
Early Schoenberg, and Webern works are fairly romantic. The mature works are 12 tone. Berg's music is rather lush despite much of it being 12 tone.
