I had kinda forgotten about this one. I should keep an eye out for it in the used bins.

I never liked Journey.. but Perry was (maybe still is) one hell of an amazing vocalist.

  3. I chose all 10 songs on the original 1984 release, love it! Favorites are; Oh Sherrie, Foolish Heart, Go Away, and Strung Out, but again I love the whole album!

The non-remastered issue is the better sounding disc.

For "Street Talk," what is the mastering situation among 35DP, CSR Japan for US, and early DADC? I have an early DADC DIDP 20097 on the way. I also can pick up a CSR Japan for US DIDP 20097 if need be. Is the CSR Japan for US the same mastering as the 35DP?

    Thanks...

To add to my own question above, does more than one CSR Japan for US pressing/mastering exist? Is there a CSR Japan for US DIDP 50148 with 35DP matrix "Street Talk," too?

I just acquired a DADC copy with a smooth sided case. According to my searches, there only one mastering.

I’m looking forward to playing this for my Journey loving kids in my avatar.

I stand alone has a truly amazing vocal.
Since that was 1998 I think it’s the last thing he recorded.
Even if you hate the song, his vocal is outstanding.

Loved those songs . I still play them all the time.
I would have kicked off Donna Please and replaced it with Home At Last.
I still don’t know why that song didn’t get a release.
Also another demo with Tony Brock called Congratulations.
    Superb songs.

My two favorites from this album are
    "Strung Out" &
    "Captured By The Moment"
Two of the best songs of the 80s as far as I'm concerned.

Is the dadc the same ? I tried for a japan for japan and lost out on ebay now they just sell too much . I like the back picture better on those early japan cds but not worth the extra money unless they have some kinda different mastering . :)

No clue. but @steeler1979 has a 35DP maybe he can shed some light or post a DR of his copy, his thread stated a difference between that and the US manufacture

Not long after my earlier posts in this thread, I ended up with both early DADC and CSR Japan for US pressings. And the mastering/levels are the same for both.

This is one instance in which I think steeler1979 is mistaken or misconstrued. The 35DP 148 is higher in catalog number and later in years (1984), so pre-emphasis is less likely. And absent pre-emphasis, a 35DP that would have a different mastering from both CSR Japan for US and DADC would be rare, if not unprecedented.

Hey gang I'll post my 35DP Japan for Japan stuff tomorrow, I'll be out of town until then. I seem to remember there being pre echo in my 35DP (like vinyl) and don't remember it on the DADC, but it's been awhile since I analyzed it. We will know tomorrow!

Also on a side note I am good friends with Bill Cuomo, co- writer of OH SHERRIE (also good friends with Craig Krampf ) and recently was over at Bill's house and he played for me a demo of OH SHERRIE that was just Bill, Steve and Craig (lyrics were nowhere near finished) and it was amazing! I was honored to hear it in it's primitive state.

Alright the EAC for the Japan for Japan 35DP-148 is:

    1. 83.2
    2. 85.6
    3. 59.6
    4. 52.8
    5. 75.1
    6. 93.6
    7. 79.1
    8. 69.3
    9. 87.3
    10. 81.6

As I remembered there IS pre-echo throughout (most noticeable when using headphones). Hope this helps
