I believe Howard Tate's Get It While You Can (1967) to be an absolute classic of the genre. His singing and playing is so pure, clean and soulful on the record it almost hurts. If you have the opportunity you really should Get It While You Can.

Possibly; I rarely hear of him included in any conversation is due to the fact it was 3 years before he made a follow-up and never again in my opinion touched GIWYC. For all intents and purposes his career died after 1967.

    Absolutely agree with:

    Alone Together
    Cruel Sister
    Realization
    Out of The Storm

I actually don't think I've ever heard anyone bring Realization or Out of The Storm into a conversation. Mystifying really.

The word "classic" has lost its meaning. I'd rather not see any of my cherished favourites damned with such faint praise.

Tom Tom Club album virtually no mentions. Maybe if it was a Talking Heads album?
Ahmad Jamal is well known in Jazz, but The Awakening is not really given credit by historians. It's mostly known as the source of a Nas sample. It does get enough mentions, but not within Jazz. Just like some Jazz guide books leave out Sun Ra. They don't even know what makes a good album. Fine date, fine date, fine date.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah "Some Loud Thunder".

I'm expecting this to get a re-evaluation any day now. A bit like Kid A did at decade end when everyone held up their hands and said "ok, we didn't get it at first, we preferred The Strokes, but the band was right all along, decade #1".

I know I'm on the right side of history on this...
