Wow! Love the mono mix of Again. Wonder if this will be on vinyl too?

Why the butt have they left off the stereo mix of "Baby Don't Scold Me"? (Clearly the original running orders aren't sacrosanct, because they added "For What It's Worth" to the mono disc.) And why put the mono and stereo versions on separate discs when they'll easily fit together? (I know that packing too much music on a vinyl record can impair the sound quality, because the grooves are too close together, but is that really a thing on CDs which don't have grooves?)

I already have the mono-stereo HDCD twofer of the first album, which also lacks the stereo "...Scold Me" (and which has "Burned" twice even though it's mono on both albums), so the only reason for me to get this set would be for the mono "...Again." Are the mix variations noticeably different?

I have to wonder if this is legitimate. If so, they missed:

    Baby, Don’t Scold Me (stereo)
    Mr. Soul (45, mono)
    Bluebird (45, mono)
    Merry Go Round (45, mono)
    Uno Mundo (45, mono)

Although only one of those would belong on an collection of just albums.

Not in my opinion. They belong, as bonus tracks

Exactly. Especially if the collection is called the "Complete Collection". Of course it should also include the full-length "Bluebird" from the 70s comp.

It would still be nice to get some live stuff officially released; what I would give to have been able to see them live back in the day! :faint:

I'll be wearing out Discs 1 and 3 once I get this, esp. 3. Finally, BS Again in clean Mono! :edthumbs:

Dissapointing. They at least could come up with additional disc of rarities/mixes or add bonus tracks

well, it's not that great, but it was an official release, therefore since releasing the whole compilation album is superflous they should at least put the unique stuff on there.

    It's crap too!

I can't believe people are complaining about this box. Personally I can't wait. I've been after the albums well mastered with good packaging as well as the mono Buffalo Springfield again for years.

I agree a rarities disc would be nice but the box set had a lot on. Buffalo Springfield weren't going for long and with this set I think we've been served well.

Are there any good quality live recordings of Buffalo Springfield?

Why? The existing CDs sound great, and the only thing new/unique about this set is the mono mix of Again. That the stereo mix of Baby Don't Scold Me has once again been ignored is both baffling and frustrating.

I'm very happy about this. Buffalo Springfield again in mono! Hope the sound quality is decent. I love all these mono reissues over the past ten years. Beatles, stones, dylan, doors, loving spoonful etc. Now we just need Moby grape!

They sound fine, especially Last Time Around, but they are pretty shoddy packaging wise. I do like a nice presentation. I've never liked the sound of the debut, but that's probably the recording in the first place. These are some of my favourite albums.

My Buffalo Springfield CD listening experience is limited to the Neil Young curated box set and the European 93 remaster of LTA and they all sound good to my ears. Are these what you refer to when you say the existing CDs sound great? On the fence with this new box set....

I'm talking about the HDCD remasters and the BS box set.

Thing is, it's not called the "Complete Collection." It's called the "Complete Albums Collection." It's defensible (if disappointing) to leave rarities out of an album set - it's harder to swallow leaving an original album track off.

Five CDs would probably hold the entire catalog, mono and stereo, single versions, and the box set rarities plus the long "Bluebird," but they don't seem inclined to go that way just now.

At least it has all the albums in it, unlike the Rhino Tim Buckley Complete Album collection from last year, which missed the last two out.
