I’ve stopped using CD Japan as everything I bought from them got stuck in customs for import tax. Shame, they were great to deal with.
Its odd, but every multi disc order I put in seems to get through, but single CDs always seem to get stuck. Theres a lesson in that. Agree that CDJapan always gives a fantastic service.
I use an eBay seller now. The discs are a little more expensive but they always go through without any problem. He has thousands of titles and the disc are here in 5 days mostly. I’ve recommended him to loads on here.
Actually interested in GH and GHV2...curious as to what was used to make those??? The remastered tracks from the various albums?
I would like to know the eBay seller's name also Bobby, as I plan to pick up a stack of these. Thanks, Pat
I'll provide recommendations on official DU dealers on eBay later today at the thread: Japan Mini LP SHM-CDs - New Releases, George Harrison and more
I don't know their kitchen, but I will comment on SQ of these two at the thread, I mentioned above, when they arrived.
gulp.. with a glass and a half in every bar, Sasson says so much.. and I thank the Lord, just for the taste of it, Lord Choc Ice has melted!
Thanks, it's nice to know. But looks like not all of them are flat transfers. I just checked my Canned Heat release, and it points to traditional remastering by Japanese: Remastering Engineer: Akihito Watanabe (Universal Mastering Studio) They says: "2017 remaster based on the US original master tapes".
Boring! I want new U.S remasters with all the B-Sides as bonus tracks and demos and unreleased songs would be nice, too.
Just preordered seven of these cd s from cd Japan. Never had any problem with customs from them before but who knows. Anyway I love those Japanese releases with minireplicas of original albums and mostly great sounding. Plus even if there is additional costs stuff like this are destined to be collectors items
And the old SHM’s used the Gus 1995 remasters as the source? I can’t imagine the new slated series is rehashing them again. The Japanese meticulously provide the source and dates. These are being touted as ‘new mastering’.
Yes, I’m fairly sure the new ones are fresh remasters. They wouldn’t dare use the 1995 ones again, would they? Looking forward to the reviews, though as I said earlier, I really wish these were SACD hybrids. They’ve missed a trick there.
As I’ve said, they missed a trick there. I’d have bought the lot! Being as they’re ‘only’ SHM CDs I’ll be more cautious.
