I used to have a tube buffered dac, and by far my favorite tubes were the Amperex 7308's.

Sometimes this thread needs to be refreshed with ordinary stuff. I have a 9 moth old cruising around the house now so I have needed to do something about my precarious tower speakers here. The fortuitous acquisition of the NHT speakers at a thrift for the office allowed me to rearrange. The Mirage 290iS speakers that I love ended up in the living room on tall stands. The low end Polk towers that were here ended up in the basement.

Unfortunately having the speakers in the corners means poor imaging. However these speakers still sound very nice, and the Definitive sub is very well integrated. Nice to have the center and surround channels for TV watching.

The next thing to go will be the old Grundig console which will go to the music/living room. I need a proper piece of furniture here.

That second shot looks scary like my old
Living room of the house I had when I was married. Yikes.

Now that's truly awesome. Out of curiosity though, what is that flooring? Ever get a splinter from it?

  20. Your space proves that you can make an unfinished basement into a cozy listening and lounge area. And I'll bet it sounds great as well. I know mine does. In fact, it's the best sounding space I've ever had.

My little setup isn't nearly as cozy, but I love it nonetheless.

Thanks! It's Dry-Core. It's made specifically to go on cement basement floors with a plastic dimpled surface on the bottom to ensure some air flow and deal with any bits of moisture. It has a very smooth finish on top and fits together tongue and groove. In 15 years I have never seen or had a splinter. It's great stuff.

Very nice. I love basements. They are for guys! I used to frequent places like Homesense and Winners to buy heavy blackout curtains on the cheap. They are a great value in a wall covering, making the room a bit more cozy.

Greetings from the southern antipodes! Ah, my humble little setup. Bearing in mind this is the shared living space with my lovely partner, so it's a balancing act between decent sound reinforcement and gear, whilst accomodating other homely/aesthetic paraphanalia.

So a bit of a rundown:
    Amp: Marantz PM-35
    Turntable: Sound Devices I-600B
CD player: well, that's an old DVD player.
    Sony bluetooth receiver
Speakers: a pair of beloved Kenwoods from the mid-70s. Inherited from my dad. Sound speccy.

    Random things:
    - A couple of photo works by my partner. We recently bought this place, so we're gradually filling up this wall bit-by-bit. She's essentially curating a wall.
    - Other drawings/paintings by artist friends.
    - Guitars! 70's Yamaha nylon string / c. 2000 DeGruchy D-28 copy.
    - Records on view: Fyling Lotus You're Dead!!!; Leo Kottke Chewing Pine (currently playing); Led Zep's Presence (sleeve only in a customised sleeve holder my partner knocked out the other day.)

Nicely done, and good to see you over here on the gear side too. Also happy to see the new place is coming together, and best wishes to the both of you. I've been listening a lot to the new Loma record today, really nice ...

It has much better acoustic properties than concrete I imagine. I'm looking for something like this to replace the carpet covering the concrete floor in my listening room. I wonder how this compares to cork-based flooring.
