Sounds like the 'set-up' for a good bass player joke...

 

“Bass solo” is the punchline to one of my fave music-related jokes.

 

This is a reminder that most musicians are like most people, they are not audiophiles.

 

Not that level of an audiophile but I do think it's funny when I mention playing SACDs or new LPs and people say something like:"they supposed to sound better than Itunes?"

 

Wow, these are by Charles Rodriguez, who did the fairly grotesque comic series, ‘The Brothers Aesop - Siamese Twins’ for The National Lampoon. His work here is a bit more conventional.

If I remember correctly, Rodriquez' work was regularly featured in Stereo Review.

 

One of my favorite Rodrigues cartoons from Stereo Review shows an audiophile approaching his turntable with an aerosol can; the can is labelled "Spray Dolby".

Couldn't find it online, but if you go to Google Images and search for 'Rodrigues Stereo Review Cartoon' you'll find dozens of them.

 

I'm 99% sure the cartoons in the first post are not by Rodrigues, but the ones posted by xilif regnu are. Somewhere in my library, I have a collection of Rodrigues' Stereo Review cartoons titled Total Harmonic Distortion.

 

It has his name in the lower left comic above "Gee I'll Bet You Can Get Moscow On That Radio" But the drawing style there does seem perhaps from earlier in his career.

 

You're right, I'm wrong. I'm mostly familiar with his work for the National Lampoon and Playboy and I've never seen anything from that early in his career.
