    Voted Master of Sparks.

DQ: They played Waitin for the Bus, Jesus Just Left Chicago, and La Grange when I saw them in 2015. Hopefully get a couple more when I see them again in June. Would love to hear Precious and Grace live.

I have never seen them live. I was going to go once but I could not get someone to fill in for me at work that day so I had to skip the show. Two of my friends went and they liked the show.

They played Waiting For The Bus, Jesus Just Left Chicago and La Grange at the show I missed.

I’ve really grown attached to the more obscure songs in this album...Sparks, Precious and Grace and all the other ones you guys have already booted.

I saw ZZ Top once in 1982 and they probably played a couple of the biggies from this one, but I don’t remember specific tunes.

I saw them in Frankfurt, Germany in 1986 or '87. It was in a warehouse and everyone just stood packed around the stage. Two hours on the concrete floor and my back was killing me, but I was behind this cute girl, and while I tried not to #metoo her, like I said, we were packed in and everyone was grooving with the music. Anyway, I don't remember the exact playlist, but they did "Jesus Just Left Chicago" and "LaGrange."

I saw them way back on the Eliminator tour at Madison Square Garden. Bon Jovi opened.

I don't actually remember but according to setlist.fm they played Waiting For The Bus , Jesus Just Left Chicago and La Grange.

I was at the show at the Warehouse in New Orleans for this tour, of which some was released as Side 1 of Fandango. So, I heard quite a few songs from this album live. I'm still waiting for the release of the rest of the show.

    Voted off Beer Drinkers.

I voted for "Master Of Sparks", very cool song, but I have to be super critical at this stage and there is something about the fact that the arrangement piles three verses on top of each other which always seemed like one too many, so for that reason if nothing else. (I voted for "Jesus" last round, so I'm not consequent, I know...)

I have heard "Waitin For The Bus"/"Jesus Just Left Chicago", "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers", "Precious And Grace" and "La Grange" in concert, which are the songs they have played live in moden times. The only other song they have done live with any regularity as far as I know is "Move Me On Down The Line", but that was only in the 70s during the World Wide Texas Tour.

Wow! You are on my cool list. :)

I would love to hear more from that recording, but there seems to be something preventing the release of anything previoulsy unreleased at all (live or studio), or else it something would surely have come out by now.

Saw them on the Deguello and Eliminator tours and maybe one more time after that.
They definitely played La Grange and Waiting For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago.
Probably Beer Drinkers and possibly Precious and Grace at the 1980 show.

I saw the same tour. Albert King opened. ZZ Top is the only concert where I’m sure I fell asleep during the show.

I met Billy Gibbons once, and asked him about it. He told me someone had just gone through the tapes, said they sounded good, and they were planning to release it. That was seven years ago. :(

Those were both standards in the set list of the No Quarter tour, so probably. :righton:

The only live material that has come out is from after they broke with Bill Ham and Lone Wolf productions, I'm thinking it has to have something to do with that, but it's just my own theory based on assumption.

Prestious and Grace. Never saw them live.
This album was my gateway to the band. I was a little late to the show. It was in '74 when I first heard La Grange. Really liked this album when I finally listened to it in its entirety.

  24. I have spun this twice in the past 12 hours. Sheesh. I don't know how I can accurately vote anymore!

I voted against "Precious & Grace" last time, but I'm flip-flopping now: I don't know why I like "Master of Sparks" so much, the riff is not as meaty, but I guess that trippy keyboard is so mesmerizing (what is the keyboard, by the way?)

"Waiting for the Bus" because I can't think of any other to eliminate.

    Master Of Sparks
High class Slim came floatin' in
    Down from the county line.
Just gettin' right on Saturday night,
Ridin' with some friends of mine.
They invited me just to come and see
Just what was on their minds
And then I took my first long look
At the Master of Sparks on high.
In the back of Jimmy's Mack
    Stood a round steel cage
    Welded into shape by Slim,
    Made out of sucker gauge.
How fine, they cried, now with you inside,
Strapped in there safe and sound.
I thought, my-o-my, how the sparks will fly
If that thing ever hit the ground.
Slim was so pleased when I had eased
    Into his trap of death.
He had slammed the door but I said no more
And I thought I'd breathed my last breath.
We was out in the sticks down Highway Six
And the crowd was just about right.
The speed was too, so out I flew
Like a stick of rollin' dynamite.
When I hit the ground you could hear the sound
And see the sparks a country mile.
End over end I began to spin
But the ball started runnin' wild.
But it was too late as I met my fate
And the ball started gettin' hot.
But through the sparks and the flame I knew that the claim
Of the Master of Sparks was gone.
