This show gets a lot of hate due to it being pretty cheesy but I absolutely love this show. The first 5 seasons are fantastic but it really suffers once Albert joins There's some really good episodes and moments This one is my personal favorite due to Michael Landon
I have the DVD’s and watch it all the time with my children, ages 5 & 8. Probably one of the few shows we all enjoy.
One of the few shows the whole family can watch together. I don't think they had any sexual references or language at all
Okay, that was a pretty awesome use of the wrong word on my part. LOL! I should've just looked it up first. Oh well.
I saw a more recent version not long ago. Cheese factor was so low, so you may not enjoy it. I couldn't stand the original. Like The Waltons for kids and that was saying something.
Y'all are cracking me up! I kind of half tuned in and half tuned out as a kid. It seems like the reruns were always aired out of order, so it was difficult to follow. That said, the show introduced me to the books, which are actually pretty phenomenal, even for adults. They are very detailed about how life was back then. I think I was the only boy in elementary school readings them, but it was good history!
Well wait, maybe I was using the right word to begin with- didn't they blow the town up in the last episode?
I remember when this show was first on, a teacher asked the kids in my class if we were watching it. She went around the room and when she got to me I said no. She asked why not and I said 'it's too wholesome'. Where I got that from at seven or eight or whatever I was I'm not sure. Probably my older brother. But she did not like that answer.
The episode with the rapist with the mask freaked me out big time. So did the episode when the older sister went blind.
I re-read the books every couple of years and still enjoy them every time. Laura was a terrific writer.
Yes, The Last Farewell was the official series finale in Feburary 1984, but not the last episode aired by NBC--for some reason NBC did not air Bless All The Dear Children in December 1983, and ended up airing it in December 1984.
My old man would watch the show's opening every week, then turn the channel. "Great music. Michael Landon is an idiot" Leftover hate form Bonanza, I think
if you love the show you have to see it on Blu Ray...it's amazing. The quality far surpasses any previous release. AND it's also fabulous to own the available season HD UVs!
I agree and they covered sensitive issues even back then but handled so much better...it's a shot of goodfellingness!
