Because Robert Plant invented extending his fingers and flicking his wrist.

Zeppelin fans calling something else derivative is the biggest joke on this thread.

Not the biggest joke, it is not like Zeppelin fans aren't already in on that joke.

She seems like an Ann Wilson wanna be (J/K).

So which innovator of that move did he take that from? We know where he got the vocals. :)

Nothing is original. Everything has been done by someone else first.

I know, just having fun with it. Nothing is original, but direct influences are what they are even if that influence isn't the originator either. Greta fans are going to have to get used to people taking the piss out of them if they are to save rock and roll. :D

It's all relative of course, but if you're being reasonable, plenty of music/bands are original. Or at the very least original enough to not be overwhelmingly derivative to the point that not a single article or review can go without mentioning the very same bands name. In this case, it's Led Zeppelin.

Is it all some conspiracy? No. They rip Led Zeppelin really hard, right down to the kids gestures. It's not an accident, and it didn't come from them "having the same influences" as Led Zep. Howlin Wolf didn't do those moves... Robert Plant did.

Do they still sound good? Yes. Because, we already like Led Zeppelin. So cool, more new Led Zeppelin jams.

Maybe it's the name. Greta Van Fleet is awkward, maybe they should change it to Artificial Plant. Think that would work better? :D

That would be cool if the band became so good that they changed their name to Greater Than Plant.

My sister mentioned this band a while back, and it's taken me this long to check out this thread. (But they're on my Want List too, so I knew I would get there eventually.)

    This is pretty cool.

    Rock Ain't Dead.

I have to think, that because fashion comes and goes into and out of style, what the heck? Why couldn't "classic rock" come back as a "new" thing?

I'm going to listen to the other tunes at least on the first page here.

Another thought I have, is that these guys remind me a little of Vintage Trouble. Now, I thought they could play, but I didn't think they could write. So hopefully GVF succeeds where I think they failed. :)

Anyone interested in bands that are "keeping rock alive" without resorting to mimicry would do well to check out Ty Segall's latest record, Freedom's Goblin. Best new straight-up rock record I've heard in awhile.

*Listen to the whole album here*

...and this has what to do with GVF? Maybe put his on the other threads where new music is shared? (I check those out too and have found many a cool band!).

Oh, we still get that you don't like GFV (again and again and again and...).

    Yet, here you are...still. ;)

Dude, do us both a favor and just put me on your ignore list already.

Others in this thread seem surprised that new rock music still exists, thought I'd share something else they might enjoy.

Good record, but it's 30 minutes too long for a rock album :D

Nice, but I rather listen to the original. Maybe on the next, two albums they own ideas.

If they could steer a LITTLE more away from Zeppelin and find a sound of their own, they could be great.

There are bands like Wolfmother, who definitely have Zeppelin and Sabbath as influences, but manage to make their own footprint with their own sound.

"Sounds a bit like Zeppelin" = Good
"Sounds JUST LIKE Zeppelin" = Mixed opinions from everyone. Rip off? Tribute? Clone? Copy cats?"

    Bit of a laugh here:

It's technically a double album (remember those?), but I had a go at making a single album version over here...
