Did somebody say "Make it funky?" Well alright then! Wet Willie, Sept. 1973 live and getting down in Macon G-A. This was a Capricorn Records promotional event recorded for Kirschner's Rock Concert. Wet Willie opened in the park, with Marshall Tucker Band and the Allman Brothers in the Grand Opera House.
Same that combo back on the same tour as well. Annie Lennox was amazing. Sting on the other hand felt like he phoned in his performance that night. Literally no passion and fire at all from him. Thankfully a few years later on The Police reunion tour he finally reminded me why he's a fantastic live performer.

Lynyrd Skynyrd at Knebworth (before 10cc and the Stones). Not really openers but you get my drift. Also Penetration opening for The Jam at The Electric Circus, Manchester. Telephone opening for Iggy Pop in a Nottingham club (early 80s). Not much else springs to mind.
Springsteen opening for Anne Murray, 8/3/74, Central Park, NYC: Rare, Never Seen Before Photos of Bruce Springsteen’s 1974 Central Park Gig Discovered! | The Light in Darkness
At that point, I hadn't seen Sting live since The Dream Of The Blue Turtles tour in 1985 (one of my earliest concerts). We'd (my wife and I) had gone to see Annie actually. We'd been spoiled seeing her not even six months before at an 800 seat venue from the 2nd row. That show was great, so we wanted more. I had zero expectations regarding Sting's performance going in. I recall being pleasantly surprised actually. I remember I thought his band was really tight at least. I'm glad I got to see that final (?) Police tour a few years afterwards myself.
Not exactly earth shattering but.. Wolf Parade opening for Arcade Fire The Stills opening for Broken Social Scene The Futureheads opening for Hot Hot Heat Alice Donut opening for No Means No
Jellyfish opening for The Back Crowes in May of 1991. Jeff Buckley opening for Soundgarden in July 1994.
Alestorm opening for Epica in 2012 at the Hawthorne Theater in Portland. I had never heard of Alestorm but loved their pirate metal music, got a few CDs. All time best opening act performance: Megadeth opening for Judas Priest in 1990. Crushing show where I broke a toe in the mosh pit and didn't mind a bit! With Testament opening the bill, this was a show I will never forget.
Al Di Meola Project opening for Renaissance. Renaissance probably regretted this. They weren’t in the same league as Al D.
Foghat opening for Black Oak Arkansas Ben Folds opening for Neil Del Lords opening for Lone Justice also when they opened for Pat Benatar

The entire undercard - Wilko Johnson's Solid Senders, Rockpile, The Boomtown Rats, Peter Gabriel and Frank Zappa.
Not sure if these count as I standee for all of them...who could sit ? First one comes to mind Lenny Kravitz opening for The Cult in Feb 1992. First time seeing him live and what a show, simply stunning. Other memorable ones were Kronos opening for Judas Priest in Toledo 1986, insane concert packed and very unruly audience King Buffalo opening for Elder last fall in Detroit, blown away and hypnotized by the music Russian Circles opening for clutch dec 2008 in Columbus, incredible night of music
