[Moderator note: Continues discussion from this thread: Beatles "White Album" and John Lennon 'Imagine' - Expanded Reissues Due In 2018* ] Another calendar date filled out in my schedule JOHN LENNON- IMAGINE 2018. NEW REMIX NEW 320 PAGES BOOK Bonus audio tracks and there is talk about a DVD/BLU RAY Out October 9, 2018. More info to come and official announcement also expected soon. We can start speculating right now The press release for the book: In 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono conceived and recorded the critically acclaimed album Imagine at their Georgian country home, Tittenhurst Park, in Berkshire, England, and in the state-of-the-art studio they built in the grounds and at the Record Plant in New York. The lyrics of its title track were inspired by Yoko Ono's 'event scores' in her 1964 book Grapefruit, and she was officially co-credited as writer in June 2017. Imagine tells the story of John & Yoko's life, work and relationship during this intensely creative period. It transports readers to home and working environments through artfully compiled narrative film stills, Yoko's closely guarded archive photos and artefacts, and stitched-together panoramas taken from outtake film footage that recreate the interiors in evocative detail. Each chapter and song is introduced with text by John & Yoko compiled from published and unpublished sources and complemented by comments from Yoko today. Fresh insights are provided by musicians, engineers and staff who took part, many of whom feature on the inner sleeve's enigmatic picture wheel, in which the identities are finally revealed. All the minutiae is examined: the locations, the key players, the music and lyrics, the production techniques and the artworks - including the creative process behind the double exposure polaroids used on the album cover. With a message as universal and pertinent today as it was when the album was created, Imagine cements John and Yoko's place in cultural history. I have every re-issue of this album (including an original '71 copy and the RSD box)I could get my hands on. I've always loved (and preferred) the Peter Cobbin remix to the original, though. I can't wait to hear what a new remix will sound like.
we will get more info regarding the audio contents soon, what it's public now: it will be a new remix. The book info is starting to appear at many places as we speak, so it's not secret, don't worry Apple! Don't be afraid!
Wow, another remix of Imagine. What the world was waiting for. And the first release with Yoko credited as co-author of the title track. I imagine no one will be able to resist.
I use to have the laserdisc of this album. It sounded great and there was a video for every song. John Lennon - Imagine
Curious about the bonus audio for sure. Is there still anything left after Lost Lennon Tapes or Anthology?
Me too. It could just be a handful of some of the previously released outtakes. Or it could be some unreleased material. But if the whole package is limited to 1 CD, including the remixed album, there wouldn't be too much extra audio.
Really love Imagine but I think the original mix is perfect as it is. Have a UK vinyl and a 2010 CD. I think I skip this. If this new version includes interesting outtakes, I might be in.
I have a US original, Lennon signature box, 2000 era remix, and MoFi vinyl from 1984. For that reason.....I’m out.
I guess that might be the main reason for the reissue. Because it's obvious a remix wasn't needed, after the good results of the 2000 Cobbin. As for out-takes, we've had plenty, I don't think there's anything too relevant. If you read the back of the book, it says that Imagine is "one of the most important collaborations of the twentieth century". So again, a Yoko-centered rewriting of history. What an ego.
Unless they do a duets album with Snoop Dogg, Miss Piggy, etc. and let Kanye remix the album I am not interested.
