Not shows that went well past its prime like Happy Days or even the Office. Im talking Shows where cutting off one season would offer a higher quality overall legacy.

I think Parks and Rec should have finished a year earlier.

Not sure I agree with that one. That jump forward gimmick was pretty cool and helped to make some nice resolutions for everyone. The Johnny Karate show was frickin' hilarious and seeing Ron ride off in his canoe to the strains of 'My Buddy' was nearly perfect.

Some would say All in the Family, so the final episode would be Mike and Gloria moving to California.

Rockford files, Seinfeld, bob Newhart show (I think that when they started with ore of the bob-less episodes, otherwise I retract my statement)

Except that my all time fave episode of any private eye series -- "Nice Guys Finish Dead" -- is from the last season

Yeah I'm a big fan of Scrubs but that last season I label as the Dave Franco season just didn't work out. Not that I have anything against Dave Franco I just think Scrubs should have ended rather than attempting to retool the show.

The experiment that was Netflix's Season 4 with the same scene from the each of the character's perspective didn't work for me.

I have hopes for season 5.

I love The Office with the fire of a thousand suns, but they should have ended when Carell left.

I agree Homeland has run it's course. Same with Dexter....got a little goofy imo. How many full seasons did Sanford and Son go without LeMont? I know in the show he went to work on the pipeline.

Showtime series are notorious for running into the ground. Weeds is another.

The X Files... it should have ended after the greatly underrated Season 8; a real return to form, and as coherent and complete an ending as they ever had, considering they thought it was the final season when they made it.

Pity they messed it up by making a ninth season (and two awful recent mini-seasons)...

The last season of Star Trek: The NExt Generation was a noticeable step down from the previous 3 or 4 seasons

I have to agree, but then we would never have gotten this, which would have been a *huge* loss:

The last season was like watching a different show altogether. The writing stunk and the characters acted erratically and entirely unlike how they would/should. Nothing made any sense.

Only redeemable quality was the last 1/3 of the last episode.

*Highly* disagree. Plenty of great episodes in that season and plenty of stinkers in the previous seasons. In my view, the ratio wasn't any different.

And "All Good Things..." would be enough to offset even a season with 20-odd stinkers anyway.
