Chris Rock is the only member of the Sandler pose that I find berable. While he hasn't exactly had the greatest movie career I think he is the funniest of the usual suspects within the Sandler group.

  4. Rock just seems to be doing a friend a favor in this movie. He must have known how terribly unfunny it was. And worse, trying to tug heart strings and build some sympathy for a thoroughly unlikeable character -blech.

Well that movie was aimed towards kids and pre-teens so there is that.

Meaning that kids and pre-teens don't deserve a better actor in their movies?

Wayne's World. My parents and I were watching it on IFC last night and both thought the movie was unfunny.

Yeah, only the first two. The gratuitious later sequels take the concept to ridiculous extremes (like N!xau inexplicably ending up in China).

I was blissfully unaware that there were subsequent sequels. Not surprising, as it had to be a cheap film to make. Does one of them have a change in corporate sponsors? No Coke, Pepsi?

If you don't like the original SNL skit, it falls pretty flat.
I do like Mike Myers' physical comedy...but Dana Carvey
is really hard to 'bear' here...

I didn't mind the movie myself actually. My parents on the other hand did.

Your previous writings make them sound like they might not really be "rock & roll" people. Alice Cooper's bit probably meant very little to them.

Almost anyhting is funny if Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell's in it.

They just think that the movie isn't as funny like it was back when it first came out.

That's what the Forum folks call "dated".
I prefer to say that it was "of its time".

The only thing that I can think of that would be funny if Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell were in it is a wood chipper:

Sometimes unfunny movies are funny because they think they're funny, not because they really are. They're the cinematic equivalent of this guy:

No.... I think it had a lot to do with N!xau suddenly becoming a sensation in Asia, so they kept churning out sequels with him.

    * The Gods Must Be Crazy 3: Crazy Safari - The only one made with the blessing of the original filmmakers (an unreleased English dub apparently exists, with the original TGMBC narrator), the body of a mummified vampire falls out of a plane and is discovered by N!xau's tribe. Amusing enough, especially when N!xau gets possessed by the spirit of Bruce Lee.
    * The Gods Must Be Crazy 4: Crazy Hong Kong - N!xau ends up in Hong Kong and has to adapt. I've seen this (once), and I remember it having a distinct vibe of "we're laughing AT him, not WITH him", which goes very much against the point of TGMBC.
    * The Gods Must Be Crazy 4: Yankee Zulu - Yes, another "fourth" movie! I own it, but have yet to watch it.... all I know is, it's more or less totally removed from the series, and N!xau isn't in it.
    * The Gods Must Be Crazy 5: The Gods Must Be Funny In China - Again, own it, but never watched it. N!xau ends up in China somehow.

There was also a spinoff movie I have yet to watch, called "Jewel Of The Gods", an Indiana Jones take-off starring the two leads from the first TGMBC. I really should check this out, as I paid quite a lot to get my hands on one of apparently only a handful of DVD's that made it out of the factory.
