I have 5 of them and all the vinyls were superb both in sound and pressing quality

For US pressings, it truly is hard to better the Wally's for sure.:righton:

Wally's are truly great, but the early UK Dark Sides are the tops.

The 2011 Sax is very good too.

True that...on the UK part, have not heard the Guthrie master cut by Sax.

Is the WYWH different from 2011 edition?

    Yes and no.

The EU 2016 WYWH was the new Bernie Grundman cut

The very fist issue of the US 2016 used the 2011 Sax plates (albeit a better quality pressing than the 2011).

At some point in 2017 this changed over and the US WYWH is now the BG version.

It is indeed...just not at the same level as a first press UK which is why i left it off my "superb" list.

On the UK the harmonics in the opening chord to Fearless, or the bass and drum slam of the funky part of Echoes ... unparalleled!

Ah. You have no idea how many times this has been asked. Ultimately the answer is - they're both excellent, but different in subtle ways. Neither one is "better" per se.

I have both, since it's one of my very favorite albums.

I agree. WYWH is my favourite Floyd album so I tend to get any new release of it when it comes out. The 2011 vinyl package is lovely as is the recent 2016.

I don't have an original of this to compare but I think it's really good.

I didn't hear any issues listening pretty loud through speakers.

I thought More bettered my 70's issue which is likely a 3rd or 4th pressing. The 'original' is pretty noisy. A difficult record to find a clean copy and nice cover. Likewise the new Relics betters the original pressing. As for the rest only two or three titles are significantly inferior / different to an original most notably DSOTM and Animals. I don't think any others are an 'upgrade' over early pressings soundwise but there is a welcome lack of surface noise over some I have.

I thought this (2016) was at least on a par with my Nimbus Supercut which tempts me to cash in on it.

How does WYWH sound compared to the UK a1/b3?

I don't have a copy of the UK WYWH (although I am shopping for one).

Someone else said it, but I’ll ditto that Relics is excellent though my old copies (UK and US) are long gone and I have nothing to compare the new one to at present.

My copy of Relics is an MFP (Music For Pleasure) red label UK pressing. Haven't been tempted by the newer reissues because this one is clean and sounds great. A few of these are still floating around out there on the market if you're willing to look.
