I really can't see how the charts of today can in any way equal the charts of 1964. If the Beatles and their impact of April 1964 existed in the technology and chart algorithms of today, there's a likely chance that the entire top 40 would be Beatles tracks. Every song the Beatles cut up to that point would be a potential chart listing, as opposed to the limitation of having a physically manufactured, two sided single to qualify for the list.

Its no one's fault but the RIAA and the internet. Records were meant to be broken, but due to streaming, what actually qualifies as chart topping songs don't even have to qualify as a single or plays on the radio. Now the RIAA counts 150 listening to one song as a purchase so the charts will drastically change week by week depending on who released a new album and their promotion. However we know full and well Drake's lack luster album will never compare to any of the Beatles work.

He has 1,2,4,6,7,8,9. Quite impressive, but not top 5. Michael Jackson is featured on 1 of them, must have used a sample.
That said, won't be long until someone else has top 5.

Drake was on Rihanna's 'What's My Name' and some other tracks of hers probably. He could be fairly known.

Here comes the Grumpy Old Man, Again:

IF these Top Five, or Top Nine, or Top Whatever Songs were actually physical singles, records that you could hold in your hand (pun intended),

And the buyer actually had to run to a store to purchase, locate on the shelves, ask a clerk, etc

    IF so,
THEN the Music Charts rankings and proclaimed Achievements from the current Age Of Digital Streaming are comparable to the Era Of Radio and Retail, and quite noteworthy.

But fifty years between, they are not.

We are talking apples and oranges.

Billboard is being disingenuous, and misleading with their charts, in attempting to draw any comparisons.

But, it looks fabulous as a headline, which of course, is Great marketing.

Supposedly a more consistent double album than the Beatles “White Album” according to the BBC!

The headline is terrible. Sounds like he is more popular than Jes... umm, I mean... the Beatles.

The headline of the article is basically accurate, the thread title is not.

These young ‘uns put these threads up just to make us grumpy old men’s blood pressure skyrocket.:D

I heard ‘Zayn’s atrocious new version of Can’t Help Falling In Love this morning. It’s totally unrecognisable.

I know this has nothing to do with this thread, but I just wanted a good moan.

    :D
