Except for Paul's "Etcetera", which supposedly is a version of "Thingumybob" with lyrics. Paul recorded it during the White Album and somehow took home the master copy---never to be seen again.

I'm not sure if that's true. I'm sure I've heard that they are two different songs and that the 'Etcetera' that was offered to Twiggy, if that's correct, was actually a ballad, unlike Thingumybob.

In any event, Paul called it "a bad song. I think it's a good job that it's died a death in some tape bin."

I have heard that too. But since Paul is the only one who might have the tape, we really don't know. Maybe the version of "Etcetera" with lyrics was a slowed down version of "Thingumybob" (music-wise). I sort of can hear a pretty ballad based on the melody of "Thingumybob".

It couldn't be any worse than "Women Kind," right? I mean, is that even possible?

Unfortunately "Woman Kind" is one of the songs on Egypt Station".

    Paul didn't even re-record it.
It's his demo recording but they added cello to it. :p

Just picture this with cello added.
    It will be great now.:D

I once saw an Apple single with What's The New Mary Jane on the B side. Someone had it at a record fair in Camden Town. I don't know if it was a counterfeit or the real thing. I think it had Let It Be as an A side. Does this ring any bells with anyone?

It's a fake; "Mary Jane" was never considered for (let alone pressed on) a Beatles single. At one point, though, John wanted to release "Mary Jane" and "You Know My Name" as a Plastic Ono Band single.

I'd like to think it's not possible but the fact that Macca allowed us to hear "Women Kind" and not "Et Cetera" might suggest otherwise. Also, anytime I've tried to imagine what the rather charming "Thingumybob" might have sounded like as a vocal number, I get a bad feeling - "dum dum et cetera/dah dah et cetera" and so on. Huge potential for cringeworthiness on a scale that "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" could only imagine. Possibly.

You're so welcome to join in on the upcoming Lennon project thread, not so many members over there, it's still way to early for any news regarding WA50th but on the other hand we will get news soon on the Lennon camp, hints already started.

Not bad, but I can’t justify including Rocky Raccoon, especially on the #3 spot. I like some of the sequencing though.

    Here’s my latest version:

    Back In The USSR
    Dear Prudence
    Ob La Di
    Everybody’s Got Something to Hide
    Mother Nature’s Son
    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Happiness Is A Warm Gun

    Martha My Dear
    I’m So Tired
    Blackbird
    Savoy Truffle
Cry Baby Cry/Can You Take Me Back
    Helter Skelter
    Julia

A band called The Shazam recorded a cover of "Revolution 9" with recognizable elements rearranged and repurposed to make it into something more resembling a song.

I would have the single album have shorter versions of all the songs that are already on the double album.

Not sure why Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da is so unloved. A great pop song IMO - a number one in the UK & Australia (beatles version). Also with it's ska influence it's unique in The Beatles catalogue.
