Home Improvement is an American television sitcom starring Tim Allen that aired on ABC from September 17, 1991, to May 25, 1999, with a total of 204 half-hour episodes spanning over eight seasons.

The first few seasons are good, but it got bad when the boys got older.

And Jonathan Taylor Thomas leaving didn’t help, only made matters worse.

I really liked the show when it was just Tim adding "more power" to things and then they would blow up.

When they added serious messages to the show, it ruined it for me.

    Oh boy

I loved this show when I was younger

From what I have heard and read, Patricia Richardson had a lot to do with the demise of the quality of this show. Towards the end of season 2 Patricia complained about just being the typical "housewife" and wanted storylines for her character to develop which is why the had her get a career and go back to school to be a psychologist

The first 3 seasons were amazing

Season 4-5 were good but started to venture away from "Tool Time" and become your typical comedy family show

    season 6-7 were mediocre

    season 8 was worthless

To me the season 3 opener was probably one of the worst episodes in tv history. 30 minutes of Jill saying she wanted to have a girl and neither Tom or Jill realizing that it wasn'y a 100% guarantee they would have a girl!!!

I always saw the first 2 seasons as a "show for guys" but after that it became a "family show"

Tool Time got a lot of air time the first 2 seasons but really backed off after that

Also Jill is one of the worst characters ever created

Was anyone a fan of the Tool Time girls when watching the show?

I can't remember if it was Vince Neil or Bret Michaels but one of those guys went with Pam Anderson to a Tim Allen stand up show for their first date (she was still on the show).

    Always found that interesting

I thought it was funny how none of the boys were into cars or tools at all as they got older

I mean it happens but I found it kinda weird

I can't watch it anymore, I watched it too long first run. Patricia Richardson became a whining, humorless, lecturing character. Every show she was pizzed at something or sad or depressed.
I am so glad she never found another show. All I can think of when I see that face is whining

Your right he was but I think they ventured away from that the last 2 seasons, if I recall he was trying to go to UCLA on a soccer scholarship?

Agree. I get Tim did some stupid stuff but she was the most annoying, bitch character ever.
The only time her character made me laugh was the 2nd episode "mow Better Blues" when she had Tim's wrench(?) and Tim made her swear she would not break it as she repeated after him. They both broke character a bit

Jill was tolerable the first couple seasons but once she went back to school she was insufferable and really a hypocrite throughout the show

It became absolutely farcical (even to my wife) when you looked at the character in later eps and saw who she was married to--it wasn't a farcical match, it was just sad and bizarre

Very impressive the show did end up in the top 10 for ratings every year throughout it's run

Not a lot of shows can say they did that. The only ones I have found: I love Lucy, Andy Griffith Show.

Any others? Seinfeld, Cheers, All in the Family, Cosby show did not have this luck

I remember a episode where she was having dreams of the granite guy and he kissed her and she didn't know if she shoudl tell Tim, but there was a episode where Tim was caught in a compromising situation with Jenny Mccarthy's character and Jill freaked out

The pool table thing? Oh man, I remember that. If that would have been me, I would have run away, can't stay in that bar. She was drop dead gorgeous.

Tim and Jill's 19th-anniversary plans go awry when Tim is caught on a traffic camera in a compromising position with his new female mechanic, Alex (Jenny McCarthy).
